Most already know about my thoughts on FDB and his ridiculous change of system without the p[layers to carry it out
Now today we have the appointment of Dougie Freedman.
I don't care about how he left the club back in 2012 , thats football and everyone is out for themselves , clubs and employees included
What I DO CARE about is that this appointment of a VERY AVERAGE CHAMPIONSHIP manager has clearly been put in place so that Freedman can replace FDB when he fails , as he will do , probably before christmas time .
The first few weeks speaks bucket loads of the ambition of Parish and the club . Clearly FDB was the only manager available that was going to accept the limited budget , and in doing so said that he wanted to change style . In not having funds definitely speeded up Big Sam's retirement and definitely left Tony Pulis feeling less than confident .
So here we are , bottom of the table , a team in confusion , manager without a clue ,no transfer budget , and a sporting director who's managed a championship side for a season and half.
What a joke
This time next year , Freedman will be manager , we will be in the Championship .

And last season we had got Tomkins, Townsend and Benteke, people were saying how we could push for Europe and by Christmas we were hovering around at the bottom.

I can understand your thinking (though it's a bit negative!) and the signing of three youngsters (two on loan) doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I too can see FDB being sacked if it doesn't work out and Freedman drafted in as manager.

However, may be it will all work out. It looks like there are financial constraints and we have to hope it works out and get behind the team.

Fair enough Fish
But that " we are Palace " mentality is getting really tiring
We are a London club , been in the Premiership for 5 years
We should be stable by now
But no , every year is a big dipper ride , and our excuse is , " ahh but we are Palace " yes we are , a London club with a supporter catchment of 50 thousand plus .
We deserve better from the club , much better !!

Croydonlad, I'm very concerned with things in the 1st team squad but IMO you should perhaps wind your neck in a tad or you're going to confirm, if you haven't already, your bell 3nd status.

Your special brew drunken rants are a little premature. I'd wait until the window closes and we've played 2 of the next 3 league games. Until then you're polluting the forum with apoplectic noise.

Good day.

One positive is that we looked a bit more solid in the Liverpool game, well in the first half at least.

All the players playing 'out of position' is a concern, as is the perennial decision to not make all our signings until the end of August, effectively reducing our chances in the first few games as we 'make do' with what we have got.

I'm not too convinced by FdB, but will give him 6-10 games to see what he can do, after that though, if we are still rock bottom, he's gotta go.

You do wonder if Sammy Lee could do something, he must have a good idea about the defensive foundations upon which the team was built last season.

And the biggest joke of course have to be the Palace 'fans' who seem intent on wanting to destroy and knock everything good the club tries to do.

Of course nobody knows if this will turn out to be a good or bad appointment. The club clearly think it's a good idea that can continue building what Freedman actually started.

For Christ's sake stop knocking the club, board, manager and chairman and let them get on with the job they have managed to do pretty successfully so far. We are going through a transformation and it might hurt to start with, but at least give these people some kind of chance to make that extra bit of difference.

The truth is none of us know anything about how to take Palace to the next step, our finances or how the club is run. From the outside it looks a very well run club. Just trust people to know what they're doing. Imangine doing your job and people knocking you with every bit of good you try to do for the company. Just shocking support this season. Get a grip.

Yup

I do wonder if the club decided pretty much to write off the first few games, knowing we weren't going to be competitive until after the last knockings of the transfer window. So we lose three League games and save goodness knows how much in our transfer dealings.

I am therefore expecting mucho exciteamento in the next two weeks but fully expect also that I may be disappointed.
