Yes, he deserves to be in the first team and yes, he should be captain

As much as I like Punch, not for me. Behind RLC, Cabaye, Milo and McArthur in centre midfield. Used to be effective in AMC/No 10 role but has lost pace. Try's to do too much on the ball and needs to release it earlier. I don't see where he fits in the 343 and I've no idea where he was meant to be playing on Saturday - was he in CM or as a wide attacker? He doesn't suit either. FDB has shot himself in the foot by making him captain

Puncheon has to be dropped from first team for us to have any hope this season. He has been in awful form for about a year. I cant remember the last time he has struck a shot on target, I have seen milk turn quicker. Breaks my heart when I see his name on the team sheet. I honestly think FDB is just biding his time till he drops him. New Managers dont like to come in and drop the club captain straight away.

My memory is fuzzy, but I thought he was the boss when he was named captain.

Loftus-Cheek seems to better him in every department. When Cabaye is fit, I don't think you can justify squeezing Punch into the line-up ahead of Cabaye, RLC and Luka.

I can't understand all the negativity surrounding Jason Puncheon. As far as I'm concerned he's Palace through and through, and can always be relied on. He deserves to play.

Mate, I'm Palace through and through. Doesn't make me a starter. The opinion of most is that he's not the player he used to be and there are others who should be ahead of him in the pecking order. I too love him as a local lad and a trier but that unfortunately is not enough.

Old Father Time has caught up with him, has lost pace and zip. Maybe a seat on the bench but should no longer be considered a starter.

I love Puncheon but he never wants to go forward, we're really missing that, someone who can drive down the middle or at least try and create something. Was refreshing to see Loftus Cheek doing that in the second half last week, Punch and Cabeye to be fair don't seem bothered about venturing forward or just seem to lack ideas once they get past half way. (and disappointingly Van Aanholt 90% of the time) Great guy but needs competition at least.
