I think the Club wallet has been firmly put away for this window. Leaves us with much-needed squad additions not addressed if that turns out to be the case. Leaves us facing relegation without a Christmas firefighter to turn things around like before. Maybe a foreign loan or two, but loan signings are the cheap option and the cheap option isn't usually the best. I wonder what de Boer was told about the pot of money available to him? I don't remember that issue being discussed at his opening press conference other than he wanted to look at the players we had first. Well, he's looked and we still have no fit second striker of note and no quality goalkeeper and no strength in depth.

Go back to bed. We were prepared to spend nearly £20 mil on Calum Chambers and possibly because we got Riederwald for a third of that we stalled on Chambers. We'll spend £30 mil net this window. Haven't we only spent about £7 mil?

I think we may have been hoping to hold back on the rest of the money, ready to follow last years action where we, as people have said in the media, bought our EPL survival. However, we may have to spend a bit earlier if results don't go our way soonish. Early days yet though. I thought the system didn't look too bad in the Hong Kong games, so still have hope.

The problem you have in pre season, often there's no pressure from the opponent. Which leaves you to play the ball around. We must change the wingback to Mensah or Townsend Edited by Dan89 (15 Aug 2017 9.23am)

We spent an absolute fortune last year and I don't blame parish and co for trying to have a year where we don't spend as much. On paper, I still believe we have a better team than Arguably Watford and West Ham. So why don't FdB and his back room staff concentrate on what they get paid to do, and that's coach the team. If I was Parish, I'd be asking how the likes of Burnley and West Brom (who have spent a fraction of what we have these last 18 months) have managed to finish equal to us concidering their financial modal??? The aim surely needs to be for the team to be profitable and to be able to invest, instead of spending millions to just about stay up.

Huddersfield pressed more than most on Saturday, but any pressure puts this system in trouble. Not having the players in position to play a five yard pass to, and not having ball playing defenders to compensate for this, makes the system redundant.

Easy. Burnley gave Dyche and West Brom have Pulis. We had Pardew who actually made his signings worse and it wasn't until Sam had a bundle of games that he got them back up to their level.

We haven't proved it. The squad depth is absolutely 0. Yes we can this with hindsight but was it wise to buy 2 fullbacks at 14m each. When we could of got one from abroad on loan. We still need investment this season otherwise this could be the year we finally drop.

Good management is about planning for contingencies which includes what happens if Benteke breaks his leg on 1st September. Those with long memories will recall that we were doing well having bought in some class in Lombardo and Warhurst yet both broke their legs and we slid down the table and ended up relegated

Your telling me that Burnley, Swansea and Newcastle have a bigger squad depth than us. Regarding signings, Parish backs his managers and buys who they recommend. Big Sam wanted two left backs and Parsh sanctioned the deals. Whether you agree with them or not, the money was still spent. Did none of you see the public document where the club took out a loan this year???? FdB was aware that this season would be about balancing the books and trying to take a different approach. Instead of throwing money at mercenaries like we have done previously.

This was my immediate reaction. When Allardyce left, I was asked in certain 'Circles' about who I felt would be good for us. I mentioned 'Simon Grayson' which was met by 'Raised eyebrows' but I do feel he is a good manager.By the way I also mentioned Dyche. Let's hope that we don't reach the stage whereby FDB is under real pressure due to disappointing results. In all of our interests that he succeeds.

I keep hearing we are better than...... and to a degree I agree. So why is it every season we look so unsure of our destiny?
