Fantastic race and win for Mo Farah

I couldn't help thinking watching last night that the 100 metres racing is completely boring. All the fanfare for Usain Bolt for a sport which is over in 10 seconds and totally predictable. The 10,000 metres was thrilling to watch, it was tactical and seeing the race unwind wondering whether Farah had more to give, and the power finish. Absolute theatre. 100 Metres? Yawn !

Some might argue that the sheer "Explosiveness" of the 100 Metres is exciting as is the finish whereby a number of runners can sometimes be separated by milli-seconds - A "Photo finish" in horse racing parliance.

By contrast some might deem the 10,000 metres boring as for lap after lap one just sees runners plodding on at what appears a pedestrian pace and it only gets exciting towards the latter parts of the race.

Older members on here might remember a long-distance runner from the 60s, Bruce Tulloh who used to run in bare feet.

Was at the stadium last night for once in a lifetime sporting moment in history with Farah's farewell 1500m racing effort = truly majestic performance, and crikey, was he pushed to the end. More importantly, he came across as truly and humbly thankful for Stadium and UK support and evidently strong family unit support.

My question though is who is in store to become our next Mo?

P.S: STILL not eating Quorn Mince!

It's going really well. I love athletics as much as football. So happy to see Mo win last night, I like the 10k, it's a good tactical race but perhaps that's just me, many say it's too long to enjoy. Wouldn't say the 100 is boring, being a Jamaican Brit, I obviously want Bolt to win it but feel it's a bit more unpredictable this year. Went to the session this morning, cracking atmosphere even though there were no finals, every British athlete got a massive cheer.

Really happy for Prescod reaching the final. His last 50m is very impressive so maybe if he could get out of the blocks..................top 4?

Edit......or maybe not.

Totally predictable was it

The one thing that the winner of the 100m has over all the other track events is that he can call himself the fastest man on the planet

I do remember Bruce Tulloh. He once ran across the breadth of the USA - not far short of 3,000 miles.
