After the black away shirt growing on me, we all knew that this kit would clash with certain teams. After watching the highlights of the Metz game in typical Palace fasion looks like the kit man has raided the lost property for our shorts. The shorts look like soemthing I used to wear on sports day. I would have thought we would have official alternatives. But this is Palace and why we all love them.

So the rumour going is that the referee wasn't happy with the difference between the FC Metz home kit and the Palace away kit - FC Metz refused to wear their away kit, so I think Palace ended up using some shorts borrowed from Metz.

I'm sure I went to a game once (which is unusual for me hence this being more remarkable) when Palace's opponents were wearing the full Palace kit. I want to say it was against Barnsley?

Yeah was at that game too and remember thinking that there would be a kit clash since Barnsley's away kit was blue and black stripes and wondering if they had an alternate. Was a bit shocked to see them walk out wearing Palace's yellow

2nd time wearing the black kit and already a problem, not a great start. I can see the club having to get white or red ones made also before we have to have a 3rd bright kit in autumn/winter.

But yeah, it must've been this one. I'm amazed I remembered the right team even if the era was cloudy in my mind!

I thought it was Swindon but I definitely remember us singing we use persil to the tune of play up pompey. I don't think their kit was clean.

I've got it in my head that it happened a few years before the photo you posted, perhaps around the Trevor Francis era, that we were at home to Birmingham, they played in our away kit with our sponsors covered up with gaffer tape, and that the whole surreal day was topped off with a remarkable own goal in our favour in the last minute when one of theirs booted into a teammate from point blank range, sending the ball arching up into the far top corner from miles out. I've tried to find evidence of this in the past but no luck. Is anyone able to reassure me that I didn't dream it all?
