I saw it a week ago. I really enjoyed it. I'm not a history buff so I'm sure there could've been historical inaccuracies but if a film is good then I couldn't really care less. I enjoyed Harry Potter but I have my doubts he could really do magic.

It is a very good action movie or perhaps should say non-stop action movie. Not much character development but grips your attention throughout. Suitable for a thirteen-year-old, violence is not very graphic. Edited by hedgehog50 (31 Jul 2017 1.56pm)

Saw it yesterday. Dragged my teenage daughters along. I thought it was excellent and ("amaze-balls" - sorry) so did the girls. Really well made. Great music and soundtrack. No blood, no gore (as it's a 12A) so a bit like war films of old, but much more sophisticated in conveying the horror. Don't want to give too much away but the way the characters' stories were interwoven, while it was clever without being cliched, possibly removed some of the 'suspense'. I'll leave it at that. Definitely go see.

My great uncle Reg from Potter Heigham in Norfolk took his boat over and did three trips I think - years later the boat was used as a fishing deck on Hickling Broad. My dad and I went fishing with Reg in the early 70s and used his old hulk as our base - it was in poor condition but the stove in the galley still worked. But we did not know the history of the boat until years later when one of the lads from the village gave an eulogy at Reg's funeral - we had no idea what Reg had done 40 years earlier and he had never once mentioned the history of his old boat - I think the lad said that he was a school boy at the time and only went along as there needed to be a crew - just unbelievable. Well he was a bloody hero. There's echoes of what you've said in the movie, but I don't want to give it away. Let's just say one of my daughters said "how come they called xxx a hero; he didn't do a lot?" My answer was that they all were; (and I've got tears in my eyes as I type this).
