Just wondered what everyone thought of their performances in terms of what to do next. Remember that U21s don't count towards the limit of 25 in the senior squad. Do you sell, loan out, put in the senior squad or keep in the appropriate junior squad? Freddie Lapado born 1993 - Didn't see enough for me. I'd Loan out. There are of course others that didn't go due to fitness: What would you do? Parrot

I pretty hard to make a judgement on the youngsters over 2 games. I think I'd leave it to frank to make an assessment. In the 2nd half today was a testimonial feel and with so many changes hard to judge the younger players.

Freddie Lapado born 1993 - Didn't get too much of the ball today but he impressed me against Liverpool I'd give him a spot in the 25. Keshi Anderson 1995 - I'm a big fan of his, he has a good scoring record for the U23s, he had a good start when he was out on loan however I wasn't 100% convinced by his performance against Liverpool but then again, he didn't see much of the ball. Not sure if I'd put him in the squad just yet but then again Appiah made it like you said plus, pre season isn't over yet. Aaron Wan-Bissaka 1997 - He is quality, I've always thought he would make it into the first team. Future England right back perhaps? Who knows but for now at least he deserves game time Nya Kirby 2000 - Been impressed by him as well for a while, he was a stand out player last season in the U23s. He didn't have too much of an opportunity today to have an impact but against Liverpool I thought he was solid. I would give him some first team games next season, in my opinion when he came on against Liverpool, he offered more than Puncheon GK Matthew Funnell 2000 - Haven't seen him play. Michael Phillips 1997 - Been impressed by him too in the under U23s, he's been solid. Today he looked very comfortable on the ball but the other day in all honesty he was sh*t. Perhaps he would benefit from a loan Sully Kaikai 1993 - Hope he gets into the squad Luke Dreher 1998 - He is a good player, I'm hoping he gets a chance with the first team this pre season but perhaps he is not quite ready for the premier league. Wouldn't rule him out though Hiram Boateng 1996 - Also not sure why he didn't travel. He's had a few games with the first team before and I hope he gets a few more. Not really sure what is best for him at the moment, he had a good loan spell the season before last but a less impressive one last season. Perhaps another loan until January. Another young lad is Jonny Williams. Many people on here have said that he isn't good enough and we should sell him. However, he hasn't played a full premier league game before so it's difficult to judge him but he had a decent Euros with Wales and for me he was good in our promotion season. I like the way he is willing to take players on unlike other midfielders in our squad. I would give him a chance in the 25 but I know I'm in the minority there.

Fence sitting is too easy Parrot What I'm saying in how can us as fans judge if there any good by watching play 2 pre season games. Premier league is a different animal to any prem game. Even Pardew gave the kids a chance, in pre season. I highly doubt many of them will be good enough this season, they only went on the tour as the squad was thin of senior players. I saw both games on Sky and did not think that any of them let themselves down. The Liverpool game was more like a testimonial apart from that thuggish tackle on Wilf by the bloke who did the same on Tomkins at Anfield last Season. The WBA game was very competitive, however, and the lads stood their ground well. FdB has kept his promise to give youth a chance and this will increase their motivation to keep on learning. I think that Jonny, Sulley, Luke and Hiram should be in the twenty five along with Freddie and Keshi and that Bissako, Phillips and Kirby should make appearances on the bench with a view to being brought on when the time is right to gain experience.

Not quite sure I agree that Nya offered more than Punch in the Liverpool game, but hopefully we both agree that he has the potential. I didn't really count Joniesta as he's not really one of the kids. I worry that if he hasn't made it at a decent club like Ipswich then he's not likely to make it a step up at Palace. We released Ledley and Flamini and so far have only recruited Ruben, there is a space left, so there is much to gain by at least trying Jonny. Parrot

Parrot De Boer mentioned about having 18 senior outfield players as minimum, so if that's the case then you include the goalkeepers aswell that leaves 21. That's 4 spots as maximum, of course you can add players that u21.

[quote=CPFC/SCCC;320476 It would save £ that way, to be honest I was hoping we would have more than 25 this year. 25 over 21 and a few from under the academy we actually play rather than send out on loan. Parrot

Parrot John Barnes made a good point about 3/4 of our team is decent basically can play possession game meaning our front 7 but the back 4 needs improving or coaching. If de Boer has a similar feelings expect our budget to be mostly spent on defence and goalkeeper.
