All right lads?

It's nice to be back in the big time after our little spa break.

Did you miss us?

Looking forward to the coming season? I know I'm curious to see how de Boer does. He was someone I wanted at Newcastle, but Ashley appointed McClaren instead... as if he couldn't give a s*** what I think.

You lot as worried as we are about a slow start to the window? You've got a good squad so is it just depth or are there weak positions?

Quick question about Gayle, was he a bit s*** in the top flight, or just not given opportunities? He seems to have a decent Goals per Minute ratio, and he certainly looked efficient in the Championship, scoring a high number of the chances that came his way. However, there must have been a reason that he only played an average of 30 minutes per appearance.

Anyway, good luck for the season. Always enjoy a visit to Selhurst, even if it is a mission to get there.

Dwight Gayle is a great finisher but the problem in the premier league is you need that striker to take pressure off defence, when in the bottom half your under the cosh. Gayle will score goals but as alone striker in the prem, he grew frustrated wasn't linked with a move to m'boro this summer.

personally think he struggles when up on his own, so would have to play 2 up top which is rare in the prem!

Gayle looked very lightweight sweet finisher or not and off the pace in many appearances. He did bulk up a bit in his final season so all is not lost plus he has something to prove.

But I reckon he will be a peripheral player again if you sign a half decent Prem striker.

I like Gayle but he doesn't have the attributes to lead the line on his own in the premier league. He could definitely do a job playing off another striker but how many managers are going to give up an extra midfielder when they could just buy a striker who can do the job up top on his own like benteke.

His better contributions always came off the bench. When he was given the opportunity to start he was generally pretty poor, and struggled to lead the line. A season of playing more regularly might have helped him, but his all round link up play wasn't up to scratch when he was here.

That's why he was generally thrown on for the last 20 with another striker already on the pitch.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

As a matter of interest why do you think it is so difficult to get to Selhurst, compared to other grounds?

I think Gayle could do great for you in the PL. Needs to avoid injuries and start well.

There are 3 mainline stations not far from 'Selhurst Park' ie Norwood Junction, Selhurst and Thornton Heath.

I have had some commentators say about the trials and tribulations of getting to the ground.Suppose all that London traffic if you are driving !

Getting to the Amex is considerably harder. Well...slower, perhaps not harder.

Not to mention most people in good health could walk from East Croydon, Penge West or Crystal Palace as well to name but a few more mainline stations.
