Oh no.
What sad news.I recall him with great affection and I remember that goal he scored from outside the area which shocked not only himself but our supporters !

Thoughts and prayers go to all his family and friends at this sad time.

RIP

That's so sad, one of my real heroes. Built of granite.
As the pen pictures always said - "A Craggy Scot". But a lovely bloke too and I met him about 10 years ago in the club bar, he signed this photo for me, Palace v Man Utd August 1969. He said "Did they score? I'm no signing it if they did!" But they didn't - so he did.
RIP big fella.

I have a feeling that McCormick once ran the 'Drum & Monkey' pub in Croydon but I could be wrong about this.

Was it called the Bird in Hand before it changed its name? In Gloucester Road under the bridge.

Met him and Tom White in the mid-sixties when they presented the trophies at Thornton Heath and Norbury Cubs Football league presentation evening (cant see many doing that these days, free of charge). Was really nice and was impressed that we did the double!! RIP John

We've had a number of quality centre backs over the years and the great John McCormick was, allowing for the style of football played when he was with us, one of our finest. One of my all time favourites. Farewell and RIP.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think he played in my first ever Palace game (see below). Even if not, I remember that he began that season as Palace's inaugural 'Player of the Year'. It's fair to say that in the relatively few times I saw him play, he certainly "got stuck in"!
