It's so good to see our local rag the Croydon Advertiser has it's finger on the pulse with regards to it's local team: [Link]

`But Palace chairman Parish insists he never set out to avoid bringing in foreign managers and, in fact, he believes a bit of influence from mainland Europe under Frank de Boer might prove crucial for the Eagles.

The Selhurst Park chief insists that while a counterattacking style worked for Palace in the past, he's hoping new Dutch manager de Boer, with some help from Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha, can help bring about a new era in SE25.`

Good grief!

Good grief!

Maybe his injury is worse than feared, and he's coming in as assistant manager now his playing days are done?

even mentions him further down in the article:

"In Yannick [Bolasie] and in Wilfried [Zaha] we have those kind of players. Magical players who can create something out of nothing. But you will always have a moment when you don't have one of those and the sum of the parts need to be greater than the individual parts."

Written (if that is the appropriate word) by one K Seckington. Here is another of their magic intros:

It could be an exciting season ahead for Crystal Palace fans after new manager Frank de Boer admitted he takes influence from Dutch legend Johan Cruyff and also the football played by Pep Guardiola's Barcelona team - and he wants to bring a little bit of that to south London.

The right place at the right time

Actually I hate to defend the guy but that is correct. He is referencing the Barcelona team and it's style when it was played by that team under his management in the past.

What I like is they support our team.

However the amount on 'non-stories' they fun from within original "non-stories" is not only ...

But worrying poor and cheap too

They're only doing their job I suppose, but the number of stories they put on social media that start with "look who Palace are interested in" or "Palace joint favourites to sign (unnamed player)" just to get you to click through to their website, which for me has horrific response time and regularly bombs out (probably due to the number of ads). Grrr.

Is their job really to write reports where they talk about long gone players as if they are still at the club? They are just doing their jobs, but I'd have though research would be part of that job.

New manager Frank de Boer thinks that Cliff Holton could play a crucial role up front for the Glaziers next season, and he hopes to block Johnny Byrne's expected move to West Ham...

Can never understand the constant whining on here about the Advertiser.

Local papers are long dead as far as cutting edge news about the local team go. If you don't like don't read.
