It's hardly educational. FDB first task is to remain in the division. Yes frank de Boer may give youngsters a chance. Let's no kid ourselves, that because de Boer turned up, these young players have turned into world beaters. They have the chance in pre season to stake a claim but remember Ajax main source is to produce their own. I'm all for youth but this we take time, if it's done right. I'm not ruling out the youngest players on the list, but you'd have thought if any of the older ones on there were going to set the world alight we'd have seen more from them by now, either at Palace or out on loan.

Totally agree. I'm not gonna write them off but let's not fool ourselves that FDB arrival, has made our academy become the best. Pre season the time to impress.

i always thought boateng shouldve gradually been blooded in. he's not let anyone down when he's been given a run out. but at 22, time isnt really on his side now.

Dreher still looks like he needs to become a man, and at 18 it's no surprise. Could happen. Will take the usual loaning out to get there. Deli Alli had to do it.

I think Kai Kai and Boateng needed more time when they were a bit younger. I appreciate that we weren't at liberty to muck about as a team trying to survive in the Prem so I'm not faulting the managers for it. Just that I don't really think a 21 and 22 year old that are yet to have had significant top level game time are likely to become world class. Squad players maybe. And of course I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

I think if we were able to loan out 18 year olds to Championship teams and for them to make their mark then we can talk in terms such as "the next Zaha". Zaha broke through at about 18 and we were able to offer him the luxury of game time in the Championship. I know it sounds harsh, but when we loan the players out to League 2 teams I don't really care if they are league top scorer by 20 clear goals, it's not a good enough test for a Premier League manager to determine a player's potential for the top tier, it's just keeping the player fit (and perhaps happy) whilst they gradually stagnate.
