Lower tier of the Holmesdale is crying out for safe standing. Maybe the lower tier of the Arfur, too (where I used to stand).
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

I wouldn't get too excited. There's no chance that any government any time soon is going to take a risk of a major disaster at a football stadium. It's not going to happen. There's isn't a political party currently that isn't risk-averse. The PL couldn't have chosen a worse time to start banging this particular drum.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

But I wouldn't be too dismissive just yet. The fact is even being discussed is a major step forward..

This could have legs as I think they have finally Sussed that people are going to stand no matter what in certain parts of grounds especially away fans and there is not much that can be done to stop it without using a sledgehammer. They may also realise the atmosphere could improve so you never know.

The clubs will be all for it, including Steve Parish, because of the massive increase in revenue they will receive. You don't think clubs are going to remove 10,000 seats and replace them with 10,000 people standing do you? It will be more like 15,000, which isn't great when you consider how tiny these football ground seats are anyway. Essentially you will have to occupy approximately half of the space you are enjoying right now. Also if you think your ticket price will decrease because you no longer have the comfort of a seat you are living in a fantasy world.

It would be terrific from my point of view. These days i like to sit,but having paid for a seat i spend a lot of time having to stand anyway as the rules over having to be seated are never enforced .

Because supporters who flaunt the rules are darned inconsiderate to fellow fans who have paid hard earned money for their seat and wish to actually SIT and watch the game. And what makes by " blood boil" is that damn all is done to confront those who stand throughout the game. Think it best I don't get embroiled in this debate as it will do NOTHING for my blood-pressure and my views on this subject have been well and truly documented on HOL.

I think any safe standing will be like the German model where for flexibility, there will also be seating so the capacity won't change. See pic. As for the government being risk averse, Dave has a point, though I guess they could say that as groups of fans already stand they want to make it safer? Tried to add two photos, seems you can't but there's lots of examples if you google Edited by Y Ddraig Goch (23 Jun 2017 9.18am) Attachment: aaa.jpg (384.42Kb)
