Will it be a peaceful protest or will it turn into a riot? I am going with the latter. By calling it a day of rage they have already set the tone. Then you have numpty McDonnell who has been calling for protests on the streets and has previously condoned violence in London Throw in some sunshine and I can only see one outcome

I am all for peaceful protests, even though I am going to guess the majority of those involved will be students or those using the Tower incident as a means to cause violence. It'll turn violent, as they will expect instant change. Something that will never happen. Are these the same group that chase TM away from speaking to the victims of the Tower block fire?

This chimes perfectly with the rhetoric of the likes of John McDonnell who has been urging trade unions to topple the Government with a summer of strikes and demonstrations. They forget that this is a country governed NOT by rage and class war but by reason, rule of law and the democratic process.Labour are making cynical attempts to subvert these principles.Disgraceful.

No sooner has a tragedy occurred, the 'Socialist Workers Party' descend in droves with their placards in hand.But they are NOT alone - there have also been those in red T-shirts proclaiming their allegians to 'Momedon't get me started on a marxist group, the "Movement for justice by any means necessary". I can feel by blood boiling so I think I will leave it at this and focus my attention on the football debates.NOT worth bringing on hypertension by commenting on these darned trouble makers.

Democratic process includes peaceful demonstration. McDonnell's words were: "You can be angry, but they mustn't resort to violence.... People have got the right to be angry but they haven't got the right to be violent." He also pointed out that people have a right to have their voices heard and that peaceful protesting has a long history of influencing changes in government policy and even in governments. So given that he's advocating peaceful protest, which is democratic, he's encouraging people to use their democratic rights and not the opposite as you suggest. On Trade Unions, if you were a party whose funding came from organised labour why wouldn't you encourage them to act in a way that has a realistic chance of seeing those very people represented in government? Given the state of the commons a slight breeze would topple the Tories. Despite the Tories every effort to restrict the activities of Trade Unions and weaken the voice of workers they still retain some democratic rights. The Tories attack on Unions and the creation of so much red tape is disgusting and in stark contrast to their regulatory attitude towards things like fire safety, consumer debt, public infrastructure and the NHS among other things. It's politically motivated and designed to weaken democracy and improve the lot of their own paymasters. I'd say that alone is worth protesting against.

I also hope you'll be starting ANOTHER Willo thread apologising for your wrongness if so, like you did over relegation and Clattenburk. For the record my guess is that the vast majority will behave impeccably, but some idiots, with no real interest in the issues being raised by the protests, might ruin it by smashing stuff or trying to fight with the police. I hope I'm wrong as well.

Was it arranged after the election? Could just be that they are bitter Labour lost, and they have to continue to pay for their education like the rest of us have.
