Good thread Cucking. My Dad and others like him would be wondering about the Freedoms they fought for and achieved if they were all alive today.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

A family frind, Johnny Bremner, served aboard HMS Ursa during WWII. His ship was attacked by subs, dive bombers, and kamikazes. But the story I always enjoyed most was his one about gunfire support on D-Day. He was serving in the ready use locker for the No.2 Bofors gun, which gave him an eyewitness view of the fighting. He delighted in telling the story of watching a large building with a big swastika on it, blowing up after taking four direct hits from the ship's main guns. He would always follow this with (usually whispered, to save the ears of others): "I hope there were lots of f***ing Nazis in there!"

There are no words to describe the bravery of those landing on the beaches that day. Just following orders maybe but trying to do so in those circumstances is hard to imagine.

I know my dad will be turning in his grave with what is now "the freedom" he fought for. This country is NOTHING like he and all the other brave servicemen died for. I am afraid we have let them down big time and maybe we should all sit back and ponder where we went wrong and start to do something about it firstly by making all citizens abide by the law and even make stricter laws to curb the way minority groups treat us. The law is what we go by and if some people do not like living by OUR rules then they should go back to where they came from of if born in this country they should just be kicked out.

They say hard work never hurt anyone ... but why take a chance? |
