We signed some players from other clubs and they were great for other clubs before signing for Palace.

They simply didn't live up to the hype. One that spring to mind for me was Nicky Carle was superb at Bristol city. Poty at bcfc and we purchased him for about 1m and was an absolute flop. Maybe another one was the signing of Edgar davids. There was a lot of media surrounding the deal and Davids was absolutely terrible at Palace.

What your hyped up signings that failed to deliver for the eagles ?

Valerein Ismael French centre half I believe we paid around 2.5 milion for and Gareth Taylor. I think we paid Bristol Rovers about 1Million.

Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days

Taylor was dog plop. We signed him on the same day as Dougie from Barnet and Taylor came with the much bigger reputation. Luckily Dougie turned out to be great and it took away some of the disappointment of how crap Taylor was.

Not quite, Freedman was signed 8th September, Taylor on the 27th September (both 1995).

Taylor was utter s***e though. HIs first goal for Palace was away at some ground where the fog was so thick the cameras couldn't even make out the ball going in. A metaphor for his Palace career, I suppose.

I remember him coming off the bench for Sheffield Utd in the '97 playoff final at Wembley and thinking that he'd score the winner. Fortunately he was just as useless in that game as he was for us.

Akinbyi springs immediately to mind. Kept talking about how good he was but couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo and was s***e as well. Annoyed the f*** out of me every time he opened his gub.

I think it was the other way, he came to us known as the striker who couldn't score a goal and clueless Trev paid something like £2.5 mill for him, when we already had a lethal partnership up front at the time anyway. TF really was f***ing useless.

Scott Sinclair for me. Couldn't believe it at the time we signed him, never really done much for us.

Adebayor another that was disappointing.

Initially;

Cabaye
Townsend
Tompkins
But I blame Pardew for these

Murray - first season
I'd say Jedinak initially but there was no hype given he was unknown to most.

Brolin and Akinbiyi were awful. So too Davids and Adebayor.

Marco Gabbiadini. Bought in October 1991 for 1.8 mil, sold in January 1992 for 1.2 million. Was supposed to replace Ian Wright. Never had a chance.

Tom ince whilst he was on loan at Palace. Great debut and little else. Remember thinking what a signing. When he got him on deadline day.

There's wasn't loads of hype about Marco reich but I remember he had a great game before extending his short term deal, before offering little else.

From my memory would have to be Kuqi- I think we paid £2.5 for him at the time but did not do a lot - that was huge money back then
Recently,
Mutch has to take one of the top 10 over the past two decades, along with Adebyaor, Zeki Fryers, Bamford, Ifill, and that crocked winger from West Brom

Red & Blue since ' 76.. And what a fine year that was and has been ever since... !
