US radio station. it's a national football station on satellite radio. rodney marsh is one of the hosts.

some notes.

* sam? he reached his goals and made a personal decision. very professional. appreciate the job he did and wish him well.
* re: new Manager - he stressed several times that it's important to find someone who fits the club's style and personnel. those are the most important things. also wants someone who wants to build the club and not view it as a stepping stone. cited coppell as a model.
* manager candidates? long list. they asked about dyche but he wouldn't comment on any specific candidates. but the way he answered, dyche is definitely in the mix.
* new players? said if sam stayed, it may have only been 1-2. new manager? probably will be more.
* what positions to recruit? said he'll look at all positions but specific positions will come down to what the new manager will prioritize.
* sakho? he stressed that it will be very tough. said it 3 times. may depend on the new manager. they asked what he'd do if the new manager says on day 1 to make it happen. answer was around overall budget, etc. "will be tough to get that done." did not sound optimistic.
* is player recruitment on hold until new manager is signed? not really. maybe in some cases he'd wait but they have targets and are making progress.
* (kind of a dumb question but i'll include): difference b/w continental vs british managers. SP: everyone is different. every person is different. i haven't hired anyone from the continent so can't really say but i find everyone is an individual and different.
* summer schedule: asia and schalke. mentioned history of chinese players. connection with virgin extending flights to china while a sponsor.
* how hard to resign WZ: we made a strong commitment to him, and showed our ambition. WZ special player who sees the club's potential. he genuinely loves the club and fans and wants to take the team higher.
* last year hoped for finish of 10. is that the goal again? yes. want to push for top 10 finish and should be realistic.
* any rising stars: (SP was on his phone and kind of hard to hear). he said kai-kai made the squad. mentioned flanagan. couldn't hear the last one.

Thanks nairb. Shame that he didn't sound optimistic about Sakho.

yes, that's the big takeaway. maybe it's part of playing the game and doesn't want to tip his hand. let's hope. but i wouldn't bet on that one.

the other big part was dyche is definitely in the mix and i'd put him higher in odds than he currently is. that's my assessment based on how he answered the question. along the lines of, "shawn has a job and a club and it wouldn't be appropriate to comment in that situation." etc, etc. he couldn't get out of the question and didn't deny it at all.

Does this mean Parish wasn't Stateside? Anyone know for sure?

Thanks nairb75 for the notes.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

I can't see how we would only have made a move for 1 or two players if Sam stayed when 2 have left because their loan has ended and another few are leaving because their contracts are expiring, such as Flamini.

Does he not realise the sh*t that is outside of the first eleven?

Does he mean the likes of Sako, Lee, Campbell, Mutch, Williams, Fryers and Kelly are expected to be part of a top 10 Premier League squad?

If Sam was only looking at signing 1-2 players then their must be a lack of funds. Sakho going to be difficult?? its not difficult pay £30m and a good chance he will keep us in the Prem next season.

pretty certain he wasn't. the hosts work out of their homes, not a studio. pretty sure they said good afternoon to him (was morning here).

I think you're overestimating our finances.

I wonder why we took out that short term funding secured against the season's TV revenue if we weren't going to be buying players

Why though? just with the TV deal the club get something like £165m thats without sponsorship, ticket sales etc etc. We must turnover £180m.
With our 5th season in the Prem coming up you would think that we would have a decent budget or is that why Sam fooked off?

Thanks nairb75 for taking the trouble to take notes and put them on here; much appreciated,

Like others, I'm a bit disappointed that the Sakho purchase appears to have been binned already and I'm nonplussed that we were only be thinking about getting one or two in if Sam had stayed. Why only a couple if Sam was here, but more now he's left? It's hard to make sense of that. I don't see how we can go on with any purchases until a new manager is in post either. I would be disappointed if we end up with Dyche. He's a decent manager, but I don't see him doing any more than keeping us above 18th and I doubt there'd be a queue of quality players inspired to join us either.
