I am constantly reading posts on this board where someone will open a topic and perhaps the OP has spelt something wrong or used 'Where' instead of 'were' or something. Rather than answering the topic or posting anything remotely useful, some pricks on this board decide to post something sarcastic about the mistake because it makes them feel important.

Sincerely from everyone else who doesn't give a sh*t about spelling but actually wants to talk about Palace,

F*ck off and get a life.

(Bet there is a mistake in this ^ that some smart Alec will pick up on)

Policing the police? Good on you.

Nothing to see here. No contradictory irony. Move along.

I must say that I agree with the OP and would like to see this habit cracked down on by the mods as whilst people may think that they are being clever it makes the forum a more unfriendly place

My wife is an ex-teacher of 35 years.Sometimes she will go into a pub, view the 'Specials' board or just the menus written on a blackboard and say things to the effect "XXX is spelt wrong, YYY is spelt wrong" like "Spaghetti" being spelt as "Spagetti" etc etc.Bloody teachers and blackboards !!!! Although I hear blackboards and chalk are things of the past in classrooms.

There are some mistakes which could be just plain typos; the example given by the OP for instance.

But some other things, like the usage of would of, should of etc. are just wrong and deserve to be called out, imho.

But it doesn't matter really.

There's a reason spelling is important...

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

Don't get me wrong I happen to believe that it is important to get one's grammar and spelling correct and I am as fallible as many in this respect.

I might be an educated chap but that was a long, long time ago and I am not exactly a 'Spring chicken'. What raises my hackles is that I believe when my wife looks at menus etc, her focus is trying to pick out the mistakes, instead of concentrating on the contents relating to the food offered by the establishment. She also does this with 'Flyers' suggesting how it could be laid out better etc etc.Makes my blood boil.

When a poster berates another for their 'lack of intelligence', yet makes this point in a post which is grammatically incorrect, then it's fair game to point this out.

Understand your sentiments but I have met a number of highly intelligent people in the past whose grammar can be called into question on occasion and even their spelling - I recall one chap who spelt "Yacht" as "Yatch" and genuinely felt he was right.

Mrs Willo would have hated a flyer we received from a fish and chip business. It said:

"10% discount for Benson air base employees and everyone else"
