At least, according to the Adder.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

How bad has the advertiser become. Didn't Townsend have an operation on his ankle ruling him out at least a month.

No need to worry. Our chairman is on holiday for the rest of the summer, so there will be no selling or buying, appointing or sackings or loanis in and out.

I love the way some of the journalists are presenting this as a "shock move". Toon have been talking about getting Townsend back ever since he left them in the first place.

I hope he stays, of course.

I like the idea of Newcastle wanting 3 wingers. A most radical new formation.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

The Newcastle media all seem to be presenting it as Townsend returning home completely ignoring the fact that he only spent half a season with them yet has spent twice as long with us.

I think that his recent performances show what a valuable addition to our side he is when properly motivated by a decent manager

I think the half season he spent with Newcastle under Benitez had already shown that.

What the season with Palace has shown is that Townsend is a complex individual who needs a decent manager to get the best out of him. I fear that a bad appointment next could be catastrophic for Townsend.

If their relationship is so good, why not bring Rafa to Palace??

Has anyone asked Townsend what he wants to do? Does he really want to live in the North East? He looked pretty comfortable with us during the second half of the Season - even on good terms with Benteke. If Newcastle are that keen, give us a couple of their best players in return Dwight Gayle anybody ?

Because if Rafa stayed at Newcastle when they got relegated, and spent a season with them in the Championship, there is probably bugger all chance of him coming to us now they are in the Premiership.
