The club have taken out a loan against future guaranteed earnings. I.e. TV money. It's not the first time we have done this. I am sure that there are more financially astute than me that can explain the mechanism properly

I'm surprised we need to borrow money. I wonder what's going on?

That's any development plans, if there were any, on the back of back burners then.

Salary payments were officially £70mill two years ago going by the accounts so with our expensive signings since that must be hitting £80mill plus. It looks very possible we have been spending more than we are getting. Wouldn't have thought the board would go down that road what with our financial history but guess Parish knows what he is doing. That's any development plans, if there were any, on the back of back burners then.

I am guessing it is a short term loan. Possibly to finance signings? I don't think we get our next tv payment until August, so given our current squad it would make sense. Found this re PL finances.

Brighton didn't; they did have the money just "lying about". I await an explanation, if there ever is one, but I question the point of billionaire owners if we have to go cap in hand to a bank.

No not always. Yep £350mill it cost and Wenger sensibly didn't make any big signings for six or seven seasons whilst the books were balanced. It was a well managed debt and they got a new stadium out of it. I am not sure how CPFC as a business can grow without development and unless someone knows different we don't have any plans to, do we? So the money is for what exactly? (rhetorical ?)

Presumably they intend to make spending, in excess of current profit / banked revenue. TV money from Sky is paid out over the season, but is guaranteed income. Its not uncommon for teams to borrow against this as a means of 'obtaining that money' early.

Cash flow and Profit and Loss are different. You run out of cash, even if you are profitable, it's game over. This will be to manage cash flow.
