While I agree with your sentiments. We can't do what pardew did last summer and leave the squad under invested in a few areas. We all love Sakho but like Sam said not at the expense of improving the squad. In my opinion we need 6 players. A gk, Rb, cb, defensive midfielder, winger/striker, creative midfielder.

He certainly did. I'm sure the Benteke deal was easier to convince the board about transfer due to be a 15 goal striker. I not so sure that it makes financial sense to pay 27m for a centre back. He's been a superb loan signing and without his input we'd probably be a championship team next season. Buy Sahko and that's non-negotiable. You can't go 'the next step up' without paying the 'next step up'.
