Courtesy of a Swansea fan site, there are nine possible outcomes for the final two games. Seven of these are favourable to Palace.

This is more than my nerves can take.

1.Crystal Palace and Swansea win. Hull are relegated.

2.A draw between Crystal Palace and Hull, and Swansea win. Hull are relegated.

3.Hull lose, and a draw between Swansea and Sunderland. Crystal Palace safe. Swansea need a draw in their last game to be safe.

4.A draw between Crystal Palace and Hull, and between Sunderland and Swansea. Crystal Palace safe. Swansea have to beat WBA in their last game to be safe. A point is enough if Hull don't beat Spurs.

5.A draw between Crystal Palace and Hull, and Swansea lose to Sunderland. Crystal Palace safe. Swansea have to beat WBA in their last game to be safe. A point is enough if Hull don't beat Spurs.

6.Both Hull and Swansea lose. Crystal Palace safe. Swansea have to beat WBA in their last game to be safe. A point is enough if Hull don't beat Spurs.

7.Hull and Swansea win. Any of the three clubs involved in the relegation battle can be relegated on the last day of the season. Swansea have to beat WBA in their last game to be safe. A point is enough if Hull don't beat Spurs.

8.Hull win, and Swansea draw with Sunderland. Swansea have to beat WBA in their last game, and hope that Hull don't beat Spurs and that Palace lose to Manchester United.

9.Hull win and Swansea lose to Sunderland. Crystal Palace safe. Swansea have to beat WBA in their last game, and hope that Hull don't beat Spurs.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

All will be well.
How do I know?
Because I have just put a tenner on us being relegated
and my bets NEVER win.
Only at 12-1 but those odds will look good if we do lose and have to go to Old Trafford for a point to stay up.
Next season I will make my bet at the start of the season to save all this nail biting anguish ..

Simply:

(1) Hull have to win both of their games, AND
(2) Palace have to lose both of their games, AND
(3) Swansea have to win one and at least draw the other.

This is the only path that sends us down.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

So we are favourites to stay up?! Meaning we will go down as we always melt when we are the driving seat!

Just hope Millwall go up so I have my fave away fixture to look forward to ...

We could get a point against Spurs and still go down too.

I think you mean Man U, but if we get a point against them, then Swansea have to win both games to overtake us - and both teams have to overtake us for us to go down.

So it's a little more complicated than I stated originally, but in a good way.

Relegation Scenario 1:
(1) Palace lose both of our games, AND
(2) Hull win both of their games, AND
(3) Swansea win one and at least draw the other.

Relegation Scenario 2:
(1) Palace lose to Hull and draw with Man Utd, AND
(2) Hull win both of their games, AND
(3) Swansea win both of their games.

I think that's it. Anything else happens and we stay up.

Scenario 2 isn't correct. We draw with Hull and they will have 35 points. Swansea win and they will have 38 points. Hull therefore not relegated at that point, as there's one game left.

In these circumstances we should therefore goad the Hull fans with "mathematically likely to be going down" rather than "going down", although I accept that may not be easy to chant.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

That's the one.

I'm very confident we'll be fine, but it would be stomach-churning losing to Hull and knowing that we could need all 3 points against Utd.

On the other hand, beat Hull and MoanU and we could be 10th (or thereabouts - I haven't done the full permutations, as unlike the Swansea fan referenced by the OP, I do actually have a life).

If everyone above us loses every game, we can make 9th on 44 points. However, there are games involving teams between us and 9th who are playing each other - where someone has to get at least a point. These are:

Bournemouth vs. Burnley
Burnley vs. West Ham
Leicester vs. Bournemouth
Southampton vs. Stoke

There's not a scenario here where the results can still allow us to get to 9th, and it's not like it's a realistic probability anyway.

With a win over Hull, it's quite possible that we'll overtake Watford and Burnley, but also likely that we'll be leapfrogged by Swansea in the process. So improving to 15th is about as good as we can hope for.
