Realistically this is probably a pointless discussion as it most likely won't happen, but being just 6 points behind West Brom it's a possibility.

If Man Utd win Europa league but finish outside the top 4, that would have United, City, Chelsea, Spurs and whoever out of Liverpool/Arsenal finish top 4 in CL.

Am I right in thinking there would still be 3 Europa League places despite there already being 5 potential CL places, meaning 6th, 7th and 8th?

These threads on hol never seem to amaze me. From certainly regelated to Europe. All I say is that we have a difficult run in and looking at teams like stoke, wba and Southampton. When you reached a safety mark. Results seem to dwindle. I glad that the pressure been lifted. Let's just enjoy where we going to finish. Coyp

Extremely unlikely but still a valid question.

Yes you are right, 8th place would get you a Europa league place.

UEFA Europa League (UEL) qualification
In normal circumstances, three UEL places are given to English clubs who fulfil the following criteria:

The fifth-placed team in the Premier League qualify for the group stage proper.
The winners of the FA Cup qualify for the group stage proper.
The EFL Cup winners qualify for the third qualifying round.
Where these qualifications changes
a) If the FA Cup winners finish in the top five of the Premier League, their UEL group stage place will go to the next-highest ranked team not qualified for UEFA competitions in the Premier League.

b) If the EFL Cup winners finish in the top five of the Premier League (or top six if happens), their UEL third qualifying round place will go to the next-highest ranked team not qualified for UEFA competitions in the Premier League.

So much negativity on this post.

I for one think why not? Even if we don't, what's the big deal? Let's face it, after last weekend, we're not going down, so let's just try to finish as high as we can. Yes, realistically, 8th is probably too high, but who thought we'd be 12th at this stage after the Sunderland match?

That means a 7 - 1 thrashing is just around the corner.

Would be great, but realistically I can only see us getting 6 more points, Hull and Burnley. Can't see us beating spurs and the 2 Manc clubs.
But then I couldn't see us beating chealsea and arsenal either. So as we are almost sure to stay up, just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.
Love the stat from sam's press conference yesterday that if the last 8 games had been replicated over the season, we'd be to of the league 😉

If Man Utd win the Europa League and finish outside the top 4 then it does look like 8th will qualify for the Europa League.

According to The Premier League website:

If Man Utd win the UEL their place in the UEL third qualifying round for winning the EFL Cup would go to the next-highest ranked team not qualified for UEFA competitions in the Premier League.
