I thought we were great today. We were 2-0 down against the champions. Yes the champions!! Forget their league position, they had won 5 out of 6 games (just like us!!) and are in the Champions League Quarter finals. I thought we great to come back to 2-2 and get a precious point. We probably only need 3 points to secure safety. I think we will have a really good season next year as most on here have already indicated

We have come a long long way. Hull and Swansea had impact managers but have been found lacking. The 2 Sams have invested well, have plans for each game, They've made sure that the players know their roles which gives them the confidence to perform well. We've got among the best squads we've ever had. Need to keep this form up to convince players to stay.

Sammy Lee got one of the biggest ovations as he came off. The management have bought into the club and the fans are buying into them. Listening to 606 and they're talking about West Ham fans who wanted Allardyce out. Would they be in a better position now if he'd stayed ? If the relationship between Sam and the board stays positive and the performances on the pitch are consistent he could be to us what Pulis was to Stoke.

"How far we have come" ... I do recall similar sentiments being expressed when we finished 2013-2014 season mid-table under Pulis, and when we were sitting pretty in 5th place Christmas 2015, and it all turned to ashes. Yes, Sam has done a good job and we do look a much improved side all round. But firstly I want to see us make sure of our place in the Premier League. Then, see where we are after 20 games of next season. At that stage I think we can start to assess our progress more realistically. We certainly seem to be heading in the right direction but we've only just started the journey.

Let's hope Sam is the long-term manager we have been crying out for. Odds are against that given the amount we have had in the last seven years and best to remember we are only a four or five game losing streak next season from the first 'Allardyce Out' thread before we think he is The Messiah. The Holy Grail is the season where Palace win more games than they lose. He could be only the second fella at Selhurst to achieve that. Coppell in '91 was the first.

If any of them were managerless over the next six months then Leicester, WBA, Stoke or Southampton would not seem like a step backwards and we know how fickle football is. He seems happy now though and the way he said 'my team' on MoTD on Saturday warmed the cockles so reckon he might be here for another season or two. And he can't be enticed away by the England job after the World Cup. Good old bunging.

Allardyce's dubious history could work in our favour. I reckon he'll stick with us as long as we're in the EPL and the Board support his player requirements. Could buy us another 5 years of the promised land.
