So that Ranieri got that sack ? That seems to be the opinions of a couple of Yankee Leicester fans i met over here today.

Bit of a change isn't it? No hopers with a long run of losses into world beaters in a few days.

I don't think any players would purposely play badly however they may not give their all when playing for a manager that (for some reason) they don't like or respect.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Same as for Mourinho with Chelsea last season. I think some players do - consciously or subconsciously - deliver below par performances. Whether that's because they are not/no longer motivated by the manager's rhetoric or because they are apathetic to the manager's success.

Certainly some players - Hazard and Costa for Chelsea, Vardy and Marhez for Leicester being the most obvious examples - have clearly performed well below their expected levels until the manager was replaced.

In Leicester's case partly it was just revision to type. Under Ranieri they still did have great moments - eg Man City - but that was when they reverted to the up and over style of football that won them the league. And most teams had identified how to play against them to nullify that, but the Liverpools/Man Citys of the world feel they *have* to impose their own game and so leave the space for Vardy to exploit.

Was also made a little difficult by the desire for Leicester to consolidate - buying Slimani for example who is a very talented player but had no place in the set up and doesn't do any of the work that Okasaki does.

He just had no clue on defending, or defending points for that matter. Or intention to recruit anywhere near adequately to do so either.

Oh and he forced out the coach who did and brought in a friend and winger by trade with no coaching experience. And Richard Shaw was and is youth coach.

Apart from that he was fantastic and very entertaining for 6 minutes on MOTD. I did enjoy the 1st 12 months though.

It was Wes Morgan who seemed the most likely candidate to me, if i were to read between the lines of his quotes immediately after. They were very generic and devoid of any emotional commitment.

But yeah, Vardy...

BTW, I think they're right though, however morally corrupt they seem to be being portrayed. If they did it, doesn't mean they did so willingly. I doubt it was their first resort, and would have been a reluctant realisation that they needed to do something. You could argue that it took leadership and balls to be that catalyst. I agree that people can subconsciously or consciously feel uneasy and it wasn't working with Ranieri. The release once that influence has gone changes everything.

Danny Simpson tells all about Ranieri

“After games, we would have chicken burgers and potato wedges and he then changed them to sweet potatoes and pasta,” Simpson told the Times.

“I understand his point but the lads liked what we were used to, chicken and wedges.”
