Clean sheets..
despite this emphasis and priority we are still from my view playing far more attractive football than we did under Pulis.
I wonder if that is part of the Pardew legacy?

Come on Saturday was a dire match that had 0-0 written all over. I'm glad we won, but we far from playing attractive football. It's effective and what we need. We didn't register a shot on target on Saturday.

Saying no shots on target doesn't tell the full story. We had chances that were desperately blocked and Benteke had one chance where had he had the confidence to blast it, it may have rifled into the far corner or through Gomez's face.

Watford were spoilers, hoofing and slicing it everywhere and tackling with their arms, Bournemouth style last season. The wind didn't help either.

Honestly, we never looked remotely like scoring and got gifted a goal. The only other way we might have scored was if Gomez slipped during one of his attempted clearances.

At this time of the season with situation in the table, who gives a f... about style, tiki-taka football and sublime technique? In my opinion, 3 points this way is the ultimate scenario at the moment. And Deeney scoring the winner made it even more satisfying.....

Have to say that the Benteke chance, when he was slipped in on the right side of the area, was a good one.
An on form and confident striker would have registered a shot on target there.

It was an awful game but great result. Benteke had a couple of good chances but we never looked like scoring. Atractive it definitely wasn't

Totally agree, but sometimes you must make sacrifices, especially against a team who have put 3 past Man U and 2 past Arsenal, winning both.

I have just watched the highlights on the Palace website and we did create some chances and it looked better than I remember it doing so on Saturday - but then again it was only about 7 minutes of action. On Saturday we had the other 83 minutes.

3 good chances where the connections weren't right and the header just cleared before Benteke nods it in. That'll come.

I don't know what people want considering the results are so crucial. The only sniff they had was at the end when Hennessey comes to catch a ball 16 yards out where their players are all marked.

If you watch, every time we attacked and carved out chances were from counter attacks with 6 of them in the box. How many when they were sitting deep? 8? They knew it was must win for us and tried to just stop us winning by spoiling. They failed. That must be seen as a result.

Look again and you see we deserved the win.

The game on Saturday was the kind of game we would have lost 0-1 not so long ago.

Watford had one agenda and that was to make the game scruffy and not allow us to play. Niggling fouls, distrupt the play and do anything not to loose.

Full credit to Palace they kept probing and finally got their reward. It has been a long time since I have seen us dig in and grind out what will prove to be a huge 3 points come the end of the season.
