The Premier League has been granted a court order to stop matches being streamed for free on "Kodi" set-top boxes.

This decision means that Sky, alongside the UK's other Internet Service Providers (ISPs), will be obliged to shut down the source of illegal streams.

Earlier this week, a man was given a suspended prison sentence and a £250,000 fine for selling "fully loaded" Kodi boxes at pubs around the United Kingdom.

As long as football is beamed around the world there will always be streams.
Kodi streaming is illegal for the sports anyway and when the tv companies block one another pops up.
I have noticed that there are less football streams but more boxing ones. The Haye fight had more streams than the Holmesdale toilets.

There are other ways of streaming without using Kodi.

The website that I use, StreamTVBox, who charge a relatively small amount were adamant that there was no way that Sky, Google, Microsoft or anyone else would be able to stop streaming. I don't even use Kodi as I am prepared to pay the price of a Cappuccino a week for a pretty good service - mainly for Palace away games but also golf, tennis and all sorts of stuff available on scores of international TV channels..

"Content piracy is theft", it says.

Well, so is monopoly abuse.

Lots of misunderstanding around Kodi...

StreamTVBox and other paid subscription services have Kodi Apps... Kodi isn't being banned as it is just an open source platform for viewing media.

Boxes sold with Kodi AND links to illegal streams will be banned and they are the ones with sources easier to track down.

This won't affect people with paid subs who use Kodi to view, nor will it stop all streams. As others have said, streams will always be available.

F**k Sky. When I first subscribed for Sky football I paid £13.95 a month. When I knocked it on the head I was paying nearly £100 a month. BT Sport is miles better and only £5 a month, European footie, all games live, proper HD not 720p and 4K too. Sky has been gouging fans for years and nobody will be shedding a tear for them now that the technology has by-passed them. Do what everyone else has done - put the content on-line, top quality, low-price and you will sell tons of it. Grizzling about people viewing illegal streams - for the love of God, get a grip!!! Good luck with your Court order - which is completely unenforceable.

It's available anywhere but there are much better options available! I had a bad time with them - had to get my card company to block future payments to them!

Most people get on just fine with them though tbh. I may have been unlucky.

PM me if you want other options for similar pricing.

As has been pointed out above, StreamTVBox has had issues with some subscribers. It is not perfect and sometimes buffering and freezing can cause problems. I have used them for a couple of years now and for the small outlay I am willing to put up with a few faults.

i have never had subscription problems but if anyone can suggest better options for £10.99/month I would be willing to give it a whirl.
