Oh dear, comments in the latest match programme do not inspire confidence. First, he's happy with a draw. Second, he thinks that if each player improves by 2%, that means the team as a whole will improve by 22% 🙄🙄😩

Although we all want a win, would I settle for a point with the possibilty that a few results could get us the confidence to get more result? yes I would. Also, the maths would suggest he's talking about the starting 11.

If each player improves by 2%, then the team as a whole improves by 2%, not 22%!

Getting all very technical - I haven't the 'Bandwidth' mentally to take this all in at my age ! I'm afraid I am cerebrally challenged ! Point Allardyce was making is that if every player improves, the whole team improves - one can argue and debate the maths till those darned 'Cows come home' !

To be honest who cares about the percentage as long as it adds up to a result tomorrow

I hope BFS is right!

my maths say that if we score more goals (in the correct end) than boro then we have a 100% chance of 3 points.

Perhaps he means "if each player contributes a 2% improvement in the team's performance". But it's missing the point, which is that there are certain non-trovial issues to be fixed and if those were cleared up we would be a different outfit.

(Sorry to carry on with the percentages but) problem is if each player contributes 2% to the teams performance, that's a 22% improvement in their own performance i.e. more than a fifth, which is massive. You could be right but this means a real step up by each and every player. Improvements in things like fitness, skill, speed, sharpness and attitude could conceivably add up to 22% overall improvement in a player. But I agree there are specific things that need addressing (though we may disagree on what) rather than just some vague notion of "performance".
