"At home they've got one of the best atmospheres I've ever played in front of, so everything is there for those players to perform and do the business, but it's not happening." This is what he said about palace on BT sport.

This is what he said about palace on BT sport. Have to agree. How can you not be motivated by the palace crowd. When I played amateur footy even if we got a couple of hundred cheering it raised your game. Can only imagine what it's like playing in front of 25k. Doesn't seem to make any difference at SP. Somthung seriously wrong with the modern footballers

He experienced Crystanbul - there have been few noisier nights at Selhurst in my time. Either way, a very flattering comment.

Interestingly, he excluded Big Sam from any blame and spoke highly of the backing received from the Chairman as well as praising the wonderful atmosphere at our ground.

Have to be careful what you say with plans to go into coaching and possibly management. But there are several reasons why this isn't working, yet I hope.

Somthung seriously wrong with the modern footballers With so much money at stake & with fans expectations so high the pressure must be immense. This fuels the lack of confidence that has pervaded the squad through 2016 & taken them to a real low point. It's gonna take a concerted effort from everyone connected with the club to get things back on track but it can be done.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

He got it SPOT on Gerrard! "I think you've got to look at the players," Everywhere he's been, Sam, he usually gets that lift and that respect off the players and they usually get a bit of momentum quite early. "So, for me, it's simple. The players need to lift themselves to improve, they need to go back to basics, show more fight. "At home they've got one of the best atmospheres I've ever played in front of, so everything is there for those players to perform and do the business, but it's not happening." So next, and for the rest of this season, we want to see players playing for the Red & Blue shirt and make us all proud again.

This is rather hypocritical coming from Gerrard after "that season" I suppose, but he has a point. Players need to man up. They all talk a good game but they actually need to shut up and prove their worth on the pitch.

Not one of our players would even be worthy of cleaning his boots. Edited by Mstrobez (13 Feb 2017 5.19pm)
