If 40pts is again the requirement we need 21pts from 14 games. 6 wins + 3 draws or 5 wins + 6 draws.

So we'll have to start winning our home games:
Boro
Watford
Leicester
Burnley
Hull
(Spuz & Arse = 0 pts)

then hope we can get something from games at:
Stoke
WBA
Soton

as the other 4 are at:
Chelski, Liverpool, Citeh, ScUtd

Starting to think we've had it.
Every home game becomes a Norwich. Come on Punch!

Really don't think anyone will need anything near 40pts this season (thankfully)

Yes we can.
Remember in the midst of all of us wetting ourselves, it was a 6 minute spell that destroyed us on Saturday, which was the perfect storm for Sunderland. We have the players, it's now down to the staff to get the players back on track. It won't be easy and it will go to the wire, but it's possible.

Yawn another prediction post. Haven't learnt from not being able to beat Sunderland or Swansea. We have no consistenty, confidence or togetherness in our squad. Let's take one game at a time. The reality is unless there a big turn in form we're be playing in the championship next season. Why can't we beat Liverpool and Man Utd. Hull city managed to. Pointless

You do realise of course we just lost 0-4 to a pile of s*** at the weekend and only have seven points at home all season. Yeah of course we've got gimmes like Hull and Burnley just like Swansea and Sunderland were. I've renewed for next year already but really let's not kid ourselves we will be watching the diving cheating time wasting superstars from Man City in the league.

Last season after 24 games the bottom three were:-
Newcastle 21pts relegated
Sunderland 19pts
Aston Villa 13pts relegated

Norwich had 23pts. relegated

[Link]

This season after 24 games the bottom team are:-
Hull City 20pts
Palace 19pts
Sunderland 19pts

So apart from the bottom club there isn't much difference between both seasons.

At the end of last season the bottom three were:-
Newcastle 37pts
Norwich 34pts
Aston Villa 17pts.

Sunderland 39pts (finished in 17th place)

Realistically, I think 34 pts will be enough for survival.

Sadly, I don't think we're going to get them. I'm resigned to relegation after Saturday.

I know we football fans are fickle and emotional after such results, but you look at the bounce Swansea and Hull have had from their new managers while we have clearly got worse. Our hope is that Leicester and Bournemouth collapse but even that probably won't save us.

Sadly, I think our gamble on big name, expensive players has not worked out and the chickens will come home to roost. We lack a proper philosophy. This season is was just buy a 30m striker and hit long balls to him. Not good enough. We'll need a few years to come recover from the last 14 months of dross and it will be expensive. But come back we will.

...we must expand...get more pupils...so that the knowledge will spread...

Yes but Villa had a historically very low total, so the teams above them were going to have more points.

I reckon a team will survive with 34 points this season.

I don't know how we can say that when three of the four we've just acquired haven't even appeared for us yet.
