Whilst a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result, we only had 1 shot on target that I remember and only maybe 1 more chance than that. In contrast, Everton had numerous chances and had Barkley not been so wasteful they could've had 3 or 4.

We were clearly setup to not concede and get that confidence back and to be fair we nearly did it. However, you're not gonna get the points required unless you score goals so we need to find the balance and quick!

Thank goodness he was, because that's was all that was missing from his game. The only player we have of his attacking ilk is currently in Africa.

You don't think perhaps the Management weren't looking at the future fixtures when setting up for this game? You're saying in isolation, going for 1 point at home isn't going to keep us up and you're right but you also touched on why it was done in your post - to build confidence.

If we'd of taken a point today and a crucial clean sheet we may have gone on to beat Bournemouth and Sunderland, potentially keeping a further clean sheet.

7 points from those 3 games and 0 goals conceded was probably the highest hope Sam had but a realistic hope nonetheless.

Thanks to the ref allowing a goal with 11 vs 10 we now have no point, no clean sheet and probably no confidence. So fans can come here and say we shouldn't only be having 1 shot on target but if that 30 second of events hadn't taken place after the throw in we'd all be praising the performance.

You can see Sam is absolutely desperate for a Premier League game without conceding, even if we don't come close to scoring ourselves. Only then can we look to start winning. Today was supposed to be that game for him and he's suffered the Palace curse that it wasn't. Because that goal wouldn't have come with Schlupp defending down that left hand side.

Bentekes header hit the post, dann had a great header denied by a fantastic save. Either of which goes in we could easily have won the game. Everton had more chances but hennessey probably had one difficult shot to save, rest were pretty routine. So how about getting behind thd team rather than saying we deserved to loose....

According to the BBC it was two shots on target, as well as hitting the bar. We also had another blatant penalty turned down.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Yeah not criticising- just saying that on balance we deserved to lose (note: not loose). Not sure how that equates to not supporting the team.

Understand why Sam setup the way he did and partially agree. However, we also need to remember that not conceding is actually quite a rare thing so to only muster 1 or 2 attempts of note at goal won't keep us up.

Really? What for? I was there and don't remember any players appealing for anything?

But we didn't deserve another awful decision from a referee.
After the ball went out for a throw he should have held up play. How can you let the game go on while the physio is on the pitch giving treatment ?
Or at least give us a chance to get a sub on.

The objective right now is to end the losing habit and in doing so repair confidence. Without confidence you cannot achieve anything and losing all the time just destroys you more and more. Unusually for us we've also been victim to very poor decisions and Worldies taking points away from us, this can be even more demoralising as you ask, as we as fans are, "What is it we need to do to get some luck here?"
So if we have to suffer some negative turgid football for a few weeks to try and rebuild confidence then so be it. Too many are quick to make claims like the OP, yet when the boots on the other foot they claim the same thing because we didn't put away our chances and if you can't score you deserve nothing. Everton deserved f*** all for such a highly touted team, but once again they got the luck from rank poor officiating. Just like at Goodison where they scored direct from what should of been an indirect free kick and we had a perfectly good winning goal disallowed because a player not interfering with play was flagged offside. Honestly the list of bent reffing decisions is just getting ridiculously long and yes I do mean bent.

KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!

You must of been watching a different game from me Everton are on a crest of a wave at the moment, they had a little more quality but i think we were unlucky not to come away with something from this game,The team played with purpose and just needed a little luck If Benteke's header went in the first half it could of been so different. And with there goal, the guy who scored would of been picked up by Schlupp if he had not been out of the game with an injury. Also the goal was possibly offside, So all in all IMO one of our best performances this season

Remy did. He was wrestled to a halt by Fuentes Mori. It looked blatant at full speed, and more obvious on the replay.
