We've just had a £9m bid rejected for him by Leicester. About to be confirmed on SSN. Thoughts? Edited by Northbrook (09 Jan 2017 1.02pm)

Happy to hear if true, he's really good, quick and powerful when I've seen him. He hasn't appeared to have played much recently for some reason. Can anyone shed some more light?

Given they probably wouldn't be able to prevent it (after a lot of negotiation and yap) it would be less fire power for one of our rivals. Hopefully that happens last minutes and they've no time for replacement etc.

Just looked at a news archive of West Brom bidding for him last summer initial bid was £9 mil which was rejected then it was upped to £12 mil on a second bid , looks like they will play hardball move onto the next target then

And we also are rumoured to be trying to loan out Downing. I guess two out of three would be pretty good!

Can play LB and LW, perfect from that point of view. Probably pricey though.

He's a good player. But this is the problem when you think the world ends with the Premier League. You end up playing 9 million pounds (that's like, what, 12 million euros?) for a left back, when you could get much better players outside of the PL for this money.
And you already have Townsend as left footed wide midfielder, Schlupp just can't compare. The problem is that Schlupp doesn't really have continuity as either a left back ot a left midfielder. 3m would be too much for such a gamble. 9m is just.... Edited by mattteo (09 Jan 2017 2.25pm)

And what you are missing is that getting someone from outside the PL is a much bigger risk. Given the club's position, they might not want to take the risk on a player who might not settle in the UK let alone adjust to the differing demands of the PL in the short time that would be necessary to make a difference.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

He's not played much since he asked to leave in the summer (when WBA were in for him). Might be the reason as he wasn't exactly rubbish last season & played most of it.

They made this league the most attractive and even best in the world at some point (before some other foreign players, this time from La Liga, actually made that league the best).
