Interesting article in the Independent today suggests Big Sam has taken on more than he bargained for because of Pardew's "notable tactic" of removing teams' strong characters wherever he manages. This makes sense of AP's streaks because all is fine when it's going well but you need the Jedi's when it's going t1ts up. Like last night. At least Hennessey was doing some yelling.

Jedinak is not the sort of character you can just replace but he was in decline, not a first choice and needed half a dozen games to get match fit.

MacArthur and Ledley had looked our best pairing during 2014-15 IMO.

Speroni's sudden demotion to third choice when he'd had a decent season was bollocks and Pardew and Woodman have looked clueless on the GK front.

Great article I thought... Sam has a massive job on his hands. Trying to galvanise a team that has been pretty poor for 12 months now.

The banners and 'holier than thou' attitude of some Palace fans at his appointment baffles me. People pining for Pardew is nothing short of ridiculous and pathetic. Look at our squad... Threadbare and average... And whose fault is that??

The bloke has had 10 days in the job in what is well known to be the worst 2 weeks of the season with regards to fixture congestion... what did people expect for us to be pinging the ball around like Barca?

This is gonna take time. When you've been s*** for 12 months and a rot has set in you can't just snap out of it. He has got a lot of fixing to do of someone else's damage.

Maybe we should get behind him and the team rather than making ourselves look more like the geordie supporters we love to hate by holding up pathetic banners and the like after 10 days.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Couldn't agree with this more. We just have to get behind the team. We have 12 days until our next Premier League fixture. I want to see our fans out in support.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

Well said. The fact that people genuinely want him back and Sam out after a week in the job is absolutely staggering. The lack of belief, the lack of squad depth, the lack of organisation and the lack of fitness... all Pardew's fault. Just praying that he can keep us up and then really set about fixing it in the summer.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Very very well put positive post Ken and others

Surprised to see that sam did not make that much effort to connect with the crowd on his first appearance though

Please to see his honesty in the interviews

I agree let's get behind the team / management n be proud be palace by posting constructive and positive views, suggestions.

We as fans need to take responsibility for the way we are perceived by other fans and our own players need motivation especially when their confidence has had a good kicking....!

We need to have a place new players want to come to because the fans support and show solidarity that what we did have a reputation for across the premiership and I'm concerned our unique loyalty 'style' is being lost....!

Solidarity amongst our own is the most efficient psychology to scare away teams and intimidate them as we have done to teams like Liverpool in recent years

I've always thought MacArthur should step up and be captain. He has the drive and energy that needs to rub off on the other players.

I didn't want Allardyce because of his history and I don't see what is wrong with that. No point in going through it all again as it was done to death at the time. The banners like everything else at the moment are a bit w***y but not wanting Sam doesn't equate to wanting to keep Pardew. I know I didn't want either.

There are lots of reported issues around AP wanting to be king but I am sorry this particular piece comes across as a little bias. I like Ed Malyon he is a great source for Palace news Jedinak wasn't the answer he played through most of the 2nd half of the season, as great a leader as he was for us, he couldn't stop the rot. Where we went wrong was not getting an upgrade with similar character in

Paddy Mcarthy, he had played literally one or two games for us in the prem and was shipped out long before Pardew arrived, getting injured or sent off in all his loan spells. To hang that on AP is blatantly unfair

the dignified don't even enter in the game

I have banged on about this for months and months on here - Pardew not wanting strong chacters in the dressing room - gooness knows why not but only he can answer that.
I repeat what I said when Jedi went - this will prove to be Pardew's single biggest mistake - and so it has proved to be.
Not everyone thought the best of Jedi's game but how we could have done with him recently.
He would have organised, galvanised, won headers we are not winning and tackled properly.
We need a strong defensive midfield player urgently (along with others of course)and yet AP took the Captaincy away from him (without telling him first if the story is to be believed) and then sold him.
What a T***er!
