Gomes said afterwards he knew how Benteke took his penalties. So he wasn't surprised by the attempted dummy and dived the right way. Big Sam criticised Benteke for not hitting it to the left of the goal, on the grounds that Gomes knew what to expect. I think Benteke should stop p*ssing around and should whack it the way Deeney did.

Benteke will rue the reality that he could've taken the game completely into Palace's hands with 3 pts. As Gomes said in the post match interview, he just monitored Benteke's previous penalty attempts and stood his ground thus making the save easy.

If he puts the ball in the opposite corner to which the goalkeeper moves then people would say it was an excellent coolly taken penalty. I happen to believe that by not blasting the ball you are always giving a goalkeeper a fair chance of saving it if he goes the right way.
