Ok, so I have to stress that is only my opinion and this may split people a little but this is how I think we can work out if we need him or not...

If you think that if we left our assistant manager in charge until the end of the season, and we would still stay up, then we dont need a relegation avoidance manager who will build a side and style that will keep us up. We need one that can build our position in the league.
If you think with our assistant in charge then we would go down then Sam is perfect for the club.

Personally i think we would have stayed up anyway, even just being one point clear of the drop I still thought we were starting to look mid table again and have too much quality. I totally get why people would disagree though.

I don't think we can wait until summer before appointing someone.

Not because we'd go down, but because we'd be left treading water re transfer targets and also contracts for existing players.

In my opinion we need someone in straight away, be it Allardyce or whoever.

Millen and Woodward to save us? Hardly the most inspiring duo in PL. Sam A. has the credentials, please give him a chance to show what he is capable of before leading him to the slaughter house.

If we had kept Pardew we would have stayed up and struggled. If we get Big Sam we will have someone who will get and keep the squad fit and be a solid side in the premiership.
For me, he is the only proven candidate and as a realist he's what we need to stay up both in the short and longer term and keep the revenue rolling in.
The only problem we will have is the usual moaners on here, but they wouldn't be happy until we were back in the championship.
Fingers crossed we get him on board quickly.

EFA.

I pretty much agree with the rest, provided 'long-term' is only the rest of this season and a couple more after it.

Newcastle thought that, when Pardew left. Carver took them straight to the bottom. Millen is part of the problem, clueless.
Clear out the lot and bring new people in with fresh ideas.

One of the reasons I am for Sam is due to the fact he has NO attachment to us. It is time to clear out all the old boys now and start afresh. If Millen is to stay then a non coaching role or U23 perhaps. Time for change!!!!

As nice as Millen is as a bloke, I kinda agree. I think the manager that comes in should bring in his own backroom staff, ideally of Premier League quality and hopefully freshen the club a bit. That said, as long as it doesn't provide such radical change that it fails to steady the ship of course.

That said, on Tuesday night I started a new game of Football Manager 2015 and instead of my usual non-league quest, I started as Palace gaffer (ironic actually that one of the first items in my inbox was "Pardew sacked by Palace"). I'm currently 9th in the Premier League at Christmas and Keith Millen is still my assistant. Oh and Fraizer Campbell is already on four goals (I rotate him and Dwight Gayle so they get about 50% of the games each, along with the occasional use of Hussein Mohammed in cup games). Just saying....

A big yes from me and think about the players he could bring in:

Defoe would link up great with Benteke if only for a couple of seasons.

Noble,Cresswell and Kouyaté would be good

He would also get the best out of Townsend

We now need a manager. Of those available he has the best record in the premier league. Therefore SA is probably our first choice. Personally I am not a fan but I will support him whilst in situ.

Yes. We're in a relegation battle therefore we desperately need organisation to stop shipping goals. We have proven that we not good enough to play expansive football and especially our defenders are not good enough defending high up the pitch.
