An interesting way of conducting a sacking - is Parish trying to reduce the amount of compensation he'll have to pay Pardew? Anyone think of any precedents?

I suppose it's a bit similar to the Holloway departure, jumping before he was pushed.

Well, who'd have thought it?

In a statement chairman Steve Parish said: “I would like to put on record our sincere gratitude for the tremendous service Alan has given us, both in his time here as manager and previously as a player.

"Following a fantastic second half of 2014/15, the 2015/16 season culminated in only narrowly missing out on winning the FA cup as well as securing our Premier League place for a record breaking fourth time.

"During his tenure Alan’s hard work and dedication were without question, he has improved so many areas of the club and we wish him the very best for the future.

"With games now coming thick and fast over the holiday period the club are hoping to put someone in place as quickly as possible but have nothing to say about a replacement at this time."

Just hope we get a decent replacement. Someone who isn't an ex-England (or Wales) manager.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

This is good news. Now lets recover, build, go forwards and pick up some points.

Sorry Pardew, nothing personal.....this is a results game.

Thank you Parish for the early christmas present.

Happy christmas all you Eagles, Nollag Shona.

Also, you have to think that Parish has already asked Pardew to resign privately, and he said no - the public request gives him no choice.

He's gone Parish just released a statement. Suspect we will have a new manager very soon.

It had been a long time coming. At most other clubs he would have been sacked last season. Credit to SP for giving him a chance to turn around results. Despite heavy investment in the squad result have remained poor, especially at home, and it's hard to justify to supporters keeping someone in the job who has provided very few home wins in 2 years.

I trust the board to get the right replacement, spend well in the window and for us to stay up. COYP.
