At last, Pards admits that we should have given ourselves more cover for the left back position in the August window, despite the unfortunate circumstances regarding Pape Souare's injuries. He has made signing a left back a priority in January, as well as another forward

"It is an issue we could possibly have covered ourselves a bit better, and we have found ourselves short in that position"

No s*** Sherlock!

"Some people need strikers and we have lost Connor [Wickham] and we might need to look in that area as well."

MIGHT! I'd say we definitely do.

I am not sure how much control Pardew has with transfers. The impression I have is that we did not get all our targets in the summer.

I think Pardew goes to SP with a shopping list and SP does what he can / feels best for the club. That's why AP is saying what he is now. Also why kids have been on the bench lately, emphasising how thin the squad is

Just my opinion

Do not know how how you came to that impression.
Townsend,Tompkins and Benteke all signed.3 Targets.

Palace must bring in an experienced Left Back on January 1st not the 31st.

He can then play straight away, and feature in the games.

This will then sort us out as Pardew says.

If we do not get one he needs to bite the bullet and play Fryers there.

Ideally we then need a Striker to cover for Benteke.

Looks like Remy will not work out remember NICOLA VENTOLA.?

I was told Santon was a definite target in the summer by someone within the general scouting network. He was another one wanting a 'bigger club'.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

He did get our second goal against Southampton, in the penultimate game of the season, that ended up getting us the point that took us out of the relegation places. All we needed to do was beat the Clowns to stay up, but conceded a second in the last ten minutes (sound familiar?).

Purely from comments made over the last few windows by both AP & SP.

As I say just my opinion, not a criticism.

That's right Dave, but didn't we have him all season (injured) then he came on as Sub scored that goal and was injured again.?

So Dowie did not play him at The Clowns.?

..kelly and Fryers are well good enough for us to compete with the teams similar to us, we are a gamble club..we buy players that may or may not do it and can sometimes take time to fit in, we cannot afford a Benteke to cover all the areas that need filling, in his last game Kelly actually looked very sound and competent.

They have stated that AP tells SP which positions need strengthening. SP goes over the list of targets the scouts have identified and asks AP which he'd prefer. SP then goes after those players. SP also said that if there is a gap in the squad, he has bought in players himself for the manager. E.g. Sako was a last minute deal, and I think he said CYL was too (but I am not certain of the last one).

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

He missed the whole of the season before the new year due to a broken bone in his foot. I'm not sure about the rest of the season, but for obvious reasons, Johnson was preferred anyway.

Your losing it.They are not good enough for Left Back.
One of the reasons we keep losing to clubs similar to us.
Every time Ward got the ball Saturday he moved it to his right foot, this in turn slows our movement down.
Kelly did OK ,but all the players must do it week in week out.
Not just the once.
Like Jim Cannon used to do 8/10 every game.
