Sorry to start another thread but I am on one tonight.
“This is a crisis, a large crisis.... in fact if you have a moment, it’s a 12 storey crisis, magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portage , and an enormous sign on the roof saying “This , is a large crisis” - Edmund Blackadder |

Knew it would be tough when Kante didn't get booked for his rugby tackle.

Makes a mockery of the game when the referee and officials are the talking points and not the action from the players or goals. As much as I have called clattenberg a few choice things on here and I am not a fan of him I don't subscribe to the theory of certain refs having it in for certain teams . Unfortunately in his case instead of being inconspicuous he puts himself in the spotlight with his antics which does him no favours

Refereeing has over the years got a lot harder to do competently due to IMO three main factors One is the pace of the game .The days when the ref could keep up with play are gone .Decision making from distance becomes a lottery Players cheating ,diving ,faking injury . Not only does the ref have to make an instant decision he has to decide if he is being conned . Pressure . Refs are judged on performance and if deemed poor instantly removed from the list .This has been the case for some years but they now seem to get publically slaughtered . Whats the answer ? Well something needs to change ,we could go down the route of rugby with video refs deciding the big decisions ,or maybe having a ref in each half ,extra linesmen . Players really do need to stop cheating as well .

Consistency and favouring bigger clubs are my main complaints. Marcos Rojo makes two red card tackles in a week and escapes both times. Vardy does one and is sent off immediately. And to cap it all he's sent off by a referee who missed one of Rojos! These incidents sum up both the inconsistency and favouritism accusations.
And don't get me started on players such as Rooney getting in the refs ear all match. Of course it has an effect.

I remember a few years ago how everyone was clammering to have 'professional' referees (rather than blokes turning up for a small fee) in the sure and certain knowledge that this would lead to a vast improvement in standards across the board. Well that worked well didn't it? Now everyone wants a video referral system except those at the top (FIFA/FA), as it would really show up any shortcomings in standards by a lot of the supposedly best referees around. My OH (a non football man) reckons they are all bent as this would be the only excuse for it all. Whatever did happen to all those far east gambling rings by the way? Just ignore a thread if you don't want to comment. No need to broadcast the fact that you won't comment whilst actually commenting. You are right about one thing though, turning every thread about officials into a a Trolley thread is tedious
