At the start of the season I argued with 75% of fans on here saying that Wickham was just a good a player as Benteke and that Benteke was only scoring because he was getting three times the service this season

really...i think wickhams a very good player. but hes nowhere near as good as benteke. agree with cabaye though, having jimmy mac next to him gives me a decent amount of hope for this season.

Cabaye played very well today, as did Wickham when he came on but pleeeeeeeeease AP take Cabaye off some of these deadballs they're woeful.

Thought that was Cabayes best game in a long while, agree he has not delivered since his arrival. GT

Agreed, thought Cabaye had some fire in him today. Also, Zaha - it's great to see him getting more physical and involved in defensive duties.

Let's hope Cabaye turns it on against some of the lesser sides in our next two away matches? As normal the dead balls let him down again today. Townsend may not be playing well but perhaps he should have taken some in the first half when he was on?

Ledley (knows he was absent vs City) often serve the welsh team with dead balls - and very precise as well. Slot him in at left back and we have a side able to pick up some points....

My thoughts on the left back spot are here [Link] It is crap of course but you are welcome to read and, if so inclined, respond. Cabaye - yes, great game and best for as long as I can remember from him. Zaha - he is now putting in good quality 90 minute performances regularly. Wickham - always liked him and shame about the injuries. Ward - had a decent game for a change Tomkins and Dann - looked good but need time together. The 'we will mix two from three of our centre backs according to the opposition' is one of AP's weirdest quotes ever. McArthur - another seven out of ten performance Puncheon - sometimes good and sometimes not so good so same old JP Benteke - really not doing enough work for me but a class header of the ball for sure Hennessy - deserves a mention as he did okay an the goals were not his fault Kelly - aaaaaaargh. read the article is all I will say. Sako - again read the article please Townsend - an article on him later today or tomorrow. sulking bloody child that he has become Overall I though we played a decent enough game against a a team stuffed full of experienced and high quality players. Typical that Toure should get his first game against us!!!

I certainly thought Cabaye had his best game for ages yesterday - real energy all over the pitch, shame the ref ignored so many late & dangerous tackles on him, my only gripe with him were the free kicks which were woeful. For me the best free kick of the day was taken by Tomkins (I think)with about 10 minutes to go, it had a much better trajectory, edge of the box right onto waiting heads. Quite frankly - considering were talking about premiership football where our team cant get a decent dead ball to land anywhere near where its where its needed is completely ---------------- (choose your own word) Connor Wickham showed graft & commitment & that goal was as good as any you will see in most games. Hopefully a few easier games ( teams with less money) will see us climb a few places so we can get to January & do something decent with the window. As for Kelly - His commitment is obvious but the poor lad is certainly out of his depth.

Well I think Cabaye flattered to deceive a bit yesterday. Ran about a lot , but did not create anything , was one of the most culpable for City's second goal and all his free kicks were awful. He does not look like a £80,000 a week star player , and he has yet to inspire us to a win since , when ?
