Super Al has guided us to our second highest top league finish ever and an FA Cup Final and saved us from relegation.

In 22 months.

Oh, and with an inherited squad with way too many Championship level players.

It's just that you all seem to have forgotten.

Yes and for that we are thankful. However, he is not the person to move us forward anymore as results in 2016 prove. So time to move on and no room for sentiment now ...

I remember the clowns talked like that when they got rid of Curbishley because he "couldn't take them to the next level" when they were just beginning to get a toehold in the top half of this division. They're certainly at the next level now.

we also get 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and none for losing. At the end of the season, those with the lowest tally of points don't get to play Premiership football anymore.

Lets hope he can 'manage' to accrue more than the 3 teams below him by season end.

I haven't forgotten that appalling performance against Villa, which was the moment we changed from being pretty decent to rather s***e.

It was Pardew who was in charge when they were relegated out of the PL in 2006-07 ! But they were in the relegation places when he took over in December after 19 league games.
The following season, 2007-08 they finished 11th in the Championship.
Season , after 2008-09, he was sacked in November with Charlton in 22nd place.
Current manager of Bolton, Phil Parkinson, was Pardew's assistant at Charlton.

So, is the moral of that story that you don't appoint Pardew if you want to 'move on to the next level' or avoid relegation long-term?

Well he did get Reading to the 'next level' getting them promoted to Div 1 in 2001-02.
And he did get W.Ham promoted into the PL in 2004-05.

I don't care about 'moving forwards', I think we're roughly about as far as we can go if we talking about reasonably safe from relegation each season. Some one has to make up the numbers, and we'll probably never be able to rise above that level in our present form.

My concern is that we appear to be going backwards. Relegation, with our wage bill is a concern - Looking at other also runs of the premiership who have been relgated in recent years.

Sorry I can't let you away with that, the Clowns thought they should be competing for Europe every season at that time. We're dropping like a rock all 2016 !

We are undergoing a run of results which are unacceptable over the course of 8 months of League football and especially for the last 3 months given the level of players we've added, that plus allowing a defence, the same players for the most part, who were made very solid under TP to suddenly forget all aspects of those lessons thus making us porous at the back !

Realistically, the next level for us, doesn't really exist. Finishing top 10 would be more about how other teams fared, than how well we did (although we'd have to do well).

But the later, relegation, should be the concern. Whilst I understand fans want us to 'push on to the next level' - that seems to be seen as a being something that's continual.

In truth, clubs like us, plateau. The question is really about what kind of plateau

Our next level is about 8th and we should be able to do that with this squad with one or two changes.

What's frustrating is when we couldn't score, we didn't let that many in. Now we can score but our defense is terrible.

Next month we'll have been playing this badly for 12 months and whilst I would love Alan Pardew to still be manager at the end of the season to secure our fifth straight season of topflight football (which would be a record for us) he's realistically got until Christmas to sort it out.
