There's a tradition in north America for managers to receive the full public backing of the team's ownership just prior to getting the sack. When Pardew gave that Guardian interview a couple of weeks ago where he said he would not accept the England job at the present time because of the wonderful opportunity he had to build something special at Palace, it felt like the same thing to me: brave words before the thread snaps.

When your job's secure you don't need to remind people that you're sacrificing greater glory to continue.

Plus of course it may be that Pardew is the only person seeing him as England manager.

No points from the Hull or Swansea games and he's down the road, I reckon.

I don't think the board are as trigger happy as some think or would like. Yes the results have been shocking. Especially at home, with last weeks debacle doubling the agony as we conspired to lose the game twice.
But the team are playing well (generally!) ..we are improving, learning to keep more possession and creating more. Unless AP loses the dressing room, which I can see no sign of, then I think he will be given time to turn it around. Which I really hope he does.

I think that we should all give opposite answers to those given on the 500 other threads on the same subject

i suppose the latest excuse is connected with Man City being so brilliant.

but who really cares anymore ?

I am remembering the Peter Taylor management era when we we so bad you didnt want to go to any of the games. and you were almost hoping for another loss so the useless manager could get the sack and somebody competent could be appointed.

So, in your opinion, Man City are not brilliant? £400m team, regular Champions League qualifiers, pick of top quality players and managers, billionaire owners..... Not a bad excuse really IMO.

I remember Taylor too, we are a different class to that era. The football we are playing is far better than that.

What, apart from the results, do you dislike about the way Pardew's teams play?

I like our style much more than the Pulis days. That was ok for keeping us up, but to progress, you gotta throw caution to the wind.

Just enjoy us actually having a go at scoring.

Results are quite important though aren't they.

My patience will be over if we fail to get anything from Swansea. As for the board, I can't believe they'll keep him if we've still got 11 points after the Hull game.

I'm very much afraid his time is very nearly up, we have improved the squad but need I say more. Sorry Alan time to move on.

I don't believe he will survive past next week if we don't get a result. If we make a change now there's plenty of time for someone else to turn things around but don't ask me who we should employ in his place because I've got no idea.
