I'm gutted we have Campbell when we had these two other players in our grasp. Campbell looked absolutely rubbish when he came on and offers nothing to the squad!! I would rather stick on some raw youth who give a Sxxx.

Confounds me too mate, but it's done.... sadly.

I'm sure it won't be long before somebody posts on here that you are a negative "plastic" etc merely for expressing an opinion.

Many with the benefit of hindsight, looking at the goal scoring exploits of both Gayle and Murray, would no doubt agree with you, particularly in the case of Murray, who we apparently sold for £3/4m ,and perhaps should have been retained in the squad.

The player I am most missing is Bolasie. I think he would have enjoyed himself (and entertained us) v 'pool.

But we can't bring back the past. Let's see how the "transition" progresses.

Murray old and we got £4mill? Didn't do much for Bournemouth in the Prem did he.

Gayle couldn't play as a lone striker and we got £10mill. He's at the right level and don't think he will be smashing it in the prem next season like a lot of Palace fans seem to think he will.

Campbell is on about 30k a week isn't he? Not worth a transfer fee and no one wants to pay him that so we're stuck with him.

Valid points and Wickham&remy would have gone on if fit. It just annoys me and even more so Campbell is on 30k!

its all well & good saying why didnt we sell campbell, well the simple answer is because he is s*** & nobody would want him l, even if we gave him away nobody will pay in excess of 30k a week for him.

gayle & muzza on the other hand were saleable assets and were both proven goalscorers at this level, and £13m for 2 players who arnt going to be in the 1st team is bloody good because usbess.

Thats 4 minutes too much. We'd have been better bringing on Hennessey and putting him up front.

Reality - Who the f**k was going to buy Campbell? Where as Murray and Gayle definitely had options, no one was going to offer Campbell a better deal than he had here. Why would he leave?

Ultimately its a players decision whether to accept a deal. Murray didn't want to be a back up man, and Gayle I'm sure, having started in the non-leagues, wanted to be more than the third choice striker who plays maybe three or four games a season.

Would you take a 15k a week pay cut?

THIS!

Campbell is not much good but we gave him a 3 year(I think) contract on good money.
For him to leave someone needed to tatch that and no one would so he stayed - he is ultimately worried more about the money than playing football - sadly that is his choice and our mistake for buying him.
in the first place.
Bu for that Murray would have stayed and I agree would have been much better back up that Campbell.
Gayle wanted football and boy has he got it!
