Hello lads. Newcastle fan, occasionally dip into this forum. What's the general consensus regarding Super Al these days? People will think I'm here to gloat etc, but I'm not. If you think I am here to gloat then you must think I have something to gloat about. Just putting the question out there. Wondering if people's patience is wearing thin with the boom-bust cycles. Don't want any sort of argument about "well Newcastle are in the championship" etc etc. Just wanna gauge people's opinions

Gayle is fantastic. Maybe he's found his level but he's lethal.

We've lost our last three games. To the champions, a team who finished 20 points ahead of us last season, and a team who are strongly fancied to compete for the title this season. Hardly the end of the world I would say and probably fixtures that a lot of people would have predicted as probable defeats before the season started. Let's see how we get on against Burnley next week before we start the calls for Pardew out.

Anyone who keeps us clear of relegation will be good enough for our owners to oversee us reach something close to our potential we've failed to do for 35 years. The moment that looks doubtful with a Jan transfer window nearby AP will be gone. Newcastle and Sunderland and 80% of the top 2 divisions have new stands or stadiums. We don't. Ask the Sunderland fans if they'd prefer our position to their's right now and relying on a retiring whippet to score every winning goal. I'd prefer better than Pardew but to get that we'd need to look abroad as there's no better here at the moment so there's a risk element there. You must realise that forcing Pardew out yourselves, no? So we have the choice of a new manager pushing on for 2 or do places higher in the league for the risk of relegation. Hmmmmm. A pundit on the radio was talking about Sunderland having higher expectations than going for a Pulis and WBA extending Pulis' contract. Honesty, I wouldn't trust these idiots with a paper round. Or is it that Sunderland are becoming as deluded as Newcastle fans? Have another think and come back when we're in trouble and your thread will have more credence. We're backers, not sackers. We're realistic, not deluded. We're an average sized club, not kings of our city. We are a patient bunch,we don't have the "deserve it" mentalilty. See you next season. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

The reason he hasn't been sacked yet is twofold. 1) A large proportion of the fanbase (myself included) have a huge willing for him to do well. He's the romantic option for us fans, he comes from the area, scored possibly the most famous goal of our history... He gets us and that does go a long way. He aims high, always goes for 3 points rather than settling for 1... There are a lot of things to like about him from a Palace fan's perspective. We don't really ever look like going down with him in charge, either. 2) He clearly has a very good relationship with the chairman, who himself would much rather back than sack. Parish worked on Pardew coming months before he eventually came, he sees him as his man and unless things get dire he'll be our manager for the foreseeable future.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

Strange. Football fans (particularly your lot) expect too much these days. I'd rather it was boom and bust than bust and bust, which is what every single manager you've had since you sacked AP has been.
