This isn't necessarily a 'Pardew Out' thread, nor a kneejerk reaction to today's game. More that I'm fairly bored at work this evening so I've had a look through our league form since Pardew took over and, by my reckoning, he now has the following league record since taking over; PLAYED - 66 On the face of it, a pretty decent record. He's taken 84 points at an average of 1.27 a game which, extrapolated over a 38 game season, would give us 48 points, the exact amount we achieved in 2014/15 and saw us finish 10th. However, breaking it down into two 33 game runs tells two very different stories; 1st 33 games PLAYED - 33 2nd 33 games PLAYED - 33 Further to this, Pardew has a reputation as a streaky manager, alternating between winning and losing several in a row. So, I also counted the winless sequences to see how long it is taking us to get back on track after the final game of a winning run. 1st 33 games 1,2,1,4,1,2,3,1,1 - Average: 1.78 2nd 33 games 14,4,4,3 - Average 6.25 So the facts are that we are winning less, drawing and losing more, scoring less goals and conceding more. We've dropped from 1.6 to 0.9 points a game on average and the winless runs between victories have gone up by 4 and a half each time. Yet on the face of it, we have a superior squad to the one he inherited. He has attracted high calibre players like Benteke, Cabaye, Tomkins and Mandanda, many of whom would get in half of the sides in the league without a problem. So where is it going wrong for us? I always err on the side of retaining a manager where possible and with us 12th in the league it's difficult to do otherwise here, yet we are only 4 points above the relegation zone. Our next 5 games include Burnley, Swansea, Southampton and Hull. For me he needs 6 points minimum from this run of fixtures or he's in trouble. Edited by Canterbury Palace (29 Oct 2016 9.35pm)
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Other clubs have sussed him out I think. I also think our fitness has declined and injuries have hit us. Anothrr enhancement in strength in depth will help there. Edited by chateauferret (29 Oct 2016 9.39pm)

As Pardew's dream comes together for him it slowly becomes a nightmare for us.

Or sack Pardew and have the uncertainty of staying up? Or do you think that a team of players can simply transition over the course of a few weeks? Not shouting you down here, just interested.

SP really should of got Benteke and Remy in before the season started, especially with the opening seven games we had. A strong start would of been very helpful. Obviously we didn't and now just as we found some form the injuries kicked in and they are hurting us badly. As for AP he has us so very close it seems to being a good side as we are competitive in nearly every game we play, but as usual for Palace he doesn't appear to be a lucky manager. I think that if we are in transition - and actually I don't believe that is the cause of our problems - then we have to take rough with smooth whilst it sorts itself out.

No number 10 now or at all really is a problem. A problem we've known about for a while. Pardew is excused without Puncheon but if we go into the next few games without a win or we're battling down the bottom in December then SP should be lining up somebody better.

I have an issue with certain drills right now. Obviously defending corners isn't good and gifting free throws another. Cr&p corners and how other teams surround our player yet we cannot do 2 on 1. Very slow to loose and 2nd balls. We're not as sharp or prepared or competitive enough.
