I don't understand the Benteke point; it's not unknown for players to make recommendations and, if it works out, all well and good.

Nowhere did Pardew say that he was likely to be in the match day squad as that would be a risk too far for someone who is Ladbroke's second favourite to be the first manager sacked this season.
