As they have decided to boycott G4S, who they normally use, for something they've apparently done in Israel (but they're not anti-semitic of course) and then the company they awarded it to is refusing to be forced into signing a union agreement. Can they organise anything at the moment? Not to mention wanting to open talks with IS ffs.

Why shouldn't people who work for security companies have agreed rights? Labour weren't asking Showsec to get staff to join a union but to agree to minimum terms and conditions for the workforce.

Perhaps Labour want to be confident that their security would actually turn up

Edited by nickgusset (18 Aug 2016 2.12pm) I said they're not anti-semitic didn't I? They've got some vague claims about a link between G4S and Israeli prisons. Hardly concrete reasoning. Why should a company have to change it's policies to be awarded a contract it tendered for? The GMB wanted them to sign a union agreement when no such request was made pre-tender. It's anti-competitive. I couldn't give a f*** but i'm pretty sure the other crackpot has said similar before too.

They want to be sure that some security turns up, or there'll be no conference at all.

That anyone is still using G4S is a mystery.
