Not here to gloat or laugh or say we told you so.
But been reading palace fans on twitter and watching their games mainly via MOTD, nut really history is repeating.
The long winless runs, the baffling subs, the dreadful football, alienation of players (usually due to inability to man manage), the absolute spin "we play good attacking football" yet his teams are toothless.
At palace as at Newcastle, and his other clubs starts off well, gets his feet under the table then it all goes wrong.
It's down to his brilliance when the team win, but its bad luck, conspiracies, bad refs, the transfer window etc etc when it goes badly.

This man will ruin everything that's enjoyable about supporting your club. He'll divide the squad, divide the support and make it a pain in the arse to attend games because it's so dull.

I can see it has already started by skimming through this board. Don't fall into the trap of battered wife syndrome "well who else is better". Get out while you can

How has it been since you got rid of Pardew?

Well after Pardew chose to leave for more money and total control over transfers, the board appointed john carver on an interim basis, and he was as bad as pardew, then after that they appointed McClaren who was probably even worse.
Benitez came in and couldn't save the sinking ship in time.

I'd also add that it's my opinion that Pardew is a lucky manager, stumbles on a formation or a line up (usually forced on him by injuries or suspension) then might win, say 6 out of 10, and the pardew for england noises start. But he can't sustain that level and goes on long winless runs which he can't turn around. That suggests he doesn't really know how to affect a result. But he'll always blame luck or bad luck when it's not going his way

However, there's an element of familiarity in all of the above!

Think the Benitez appointment was brilliant but seems not even he could prevent you from losing your first two Championship games. Are you to having a 'transitional' season??

You're right, our team is toothless - but that's because we haven't spent on any attacking reinforcements, and I don't think even Newcastle fans think Pardew is so stupid that he's not desperate to get upgrades into this squad ASAP. The lack of infrastructure at this club with regards to transfers, and the penny-pinching of our negotiators are delaying the transfers which could have settled my fears at least.

I think a huge amount of our fanbase has a real desire for Pardew to do well, which he definitely didn't have at Newcastle.

We'll also back him, Newcastle didn't.

I'll wait til 5 games after the window to judge him. It's been a rotten year but he's still a solid mid table Premier League manager and I don't think we'd get anybody better.

I really don't get why their fans feel the need to come on here all the time. I love the fact they all start with 'am not here to gloat' when they are.

You had and have some really good players at Toon. Your defence is bloody awful though. You may find grinding out results is key in the Championship. We should know - hold on a minute - si should you. Best of luck for the season. Are you happy or unhappy with your owner at present?
