Ive lived in Australia for a while now so am slightly detached from the daily bulls***, but the more i see of him - why would you not give Alan Shearer a go at the England job. You are not going to teach the players much new at that level in a short space of time, its about getting them to play for the shirt 80% and tactics 20%. Rugby league is the same in Oz with State of Origin where you get an old legend that everyone respects to manage and over a short period of time mould young blokes into legends without changing too much of their DNA which makes me think England get it wrong too often. THE THOUGHT THAT Southgate could possibly get it is a f***ing disaster. If you interviewed 1,000,000 people and asked should Southgate be the next manager, ireckon all 1,000,000 would say - f u c k o f f

I think you're very tired, considering it must be 2 am in Australia, and you're saying silly things like Shearer being manager. He's got less experience than Southgate. Plus your very tired bleary eyes must of missed the fact that this is the Palace Talk thread, and the only link to Palace here is that Southgate is a former player. Good night.

Yeah, Kind of missed my point. Just because someone has been with the under 21s, does that mean you are a shoe in? Or get someone who will give a rocket up current players with a modicum of football savvy and passion about the shirt - is that not a better option. I reckon if you lined up 1,000,000 fans and said shearer or Southgate, I'm comfortable where that would sit. (Please don't say this should be Ina different forum or anything else pointless cos I don't care)

I think most fans have given up with the national side now and don't give a monkeys about them. It's the same old story every 2 year's. I've enjoyed this euros it's helped past a month whilst waiting for the premiership season to start again. England getting knocked out didn't bother me, I cheered Wales on more for obvious reasons. England players talk about its nothing to do with passion. So how can Wales get to the semis with on paper an inferior squad? There was a moment in the first ten minutes against Belgium, where Hennessey made a save, and then after 2 Wales players done blocks against the shot. Thats dying for the cause and your country. Doesn't matter what manager we have, we can never achieve that passion and desire.

When Iceland came out last night for the second half against France they played as if they thought they could win it. Even at 5 - 1 down and with ten minutes left they were fighting for every ball and trying to score goals. England against Iceland with ten minutes left and only a single goal down looked as sh!te as I've ever seen a team look in an international finals, with the possible exception of Brazil in the 2014 World Cup semi-fial.

Alan Shearer - the man who moans about the FA not considering him when he last applied. The reason you were not considered is because you are not a manager! You are a pundit, and a boring one at that.
