Watching this match right now. Both down to 10 men. Very good match. Think the ref is losing it.

Yes the ref totally lost it, 2 very poor decisions to send off players, i think the second one was purely to even up what he realized was an earlier mistake.
As to the game, devoid of chances til late 2nd half, poor quality considering both teams earlier performances.

Argentina seem to always choke in the big moment, they just did not go for it again. Messi missing a penalty in the shootout...what odds would you have gotten on that happening ?

Bet £75 on an Argentina win, not happy!

Is more likely sulking. He's only 29. Or he doesn't fancy it in Russia 2018.

Further evidence of why anyone claiming Messi is the greatest ever is completely wrong. Failed at every major international stage and now sulking like a spoilt child (although to be fair I regard Maradona as the greatest ever and I don't suppose his behaviour was ever great )

He's still better than the whole Palace team combined. I don't recall George Best winning anything. And people regard him as the greatest player ever.

Well he did get to the last final and was voted the best player (debatable I know)

Still if England players got to a final they would hailed as heroes not failures, and we'd go on an on about it for the next 50 years

It's pretty pathetic to quit because you haven't won a final. Especially when you missed one of the pens.

I've never heard anyone ever describe George Best as the best ever. And if they did, they'd be wrong.

On your former point I'd probably agree though!

He wasn't the best player in the Argentinian team in any game, let alone in the tournament and wasn't anywhere near the best player in the WC.

Messi is an outstanding player. The standard of player that the world is unlikely to see many of.

But Maradona was better.

my takeaway from this game/tournament is just how fantastic a side chile has. what a "team."

have flair, pace, quality, and such discipline. and real fight. basically, everything you'd want to see in your team. what a treat to watch them last year's gold cup and this tournament.

i'd bet on them pretty heavy at the next WC except it's in russia. big challenges to overcome there from time to climate for them. who knows how they'll react but will pulling for them as they're fun to watch.
