Bit surprised it includes the words Britain Stronger in Europe Also, it's rather strange to run a poster encouraging people to leave the EU with photos of people that, frankly, don't look like they are from the EU. Shouldn't they have put on a load of people with lederhosen or onions around their necks? Or is this just a poster against all immigration?

I see an accurate, albeit not very nuanced, depiction of the way Merkel has opened the EU to a flood of 'Syrian refugees' - arriving in such numbers and at such speed that 'integration' is impossible. The flood of migrants is real issue that should concern people in the UK. UK citizens should be able to discuss it without getting silenced by manipulative accusations of 'racism', 'xenophobia', 'nazism', etc. You cannot keep flooding a country with outsiders and expect it to remain the country it was. Eventually a breaking point is reached.

Unfortunately both sides are trying to put fear into peoples heads. The results of this can be far reaching and can be very destructive. I wish both sides would just concentrate on the positives of their arguments rather than trying to play the fear card.

What I find more depressing than a poster is how certain sections of politics drag this kind of tired nonsense out when ever they are getting a little desperate. The Brexits are gaining pace so out come the Nazi references. These kinds of things happen in every election and all sections of potential voters are appealed to in a way that is likely to be successful.

But they aren't trying to appeal they are trying to instil fear. To appeal they should show the positives of leaving (or staying depending on your point of view). It isn't just this poster but it's a lot of things that have been said. Pretty shameful from both sides.

And that I'm afraid, is the nature of politics.

Brexit may well have zero effect on migration anyway.
I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like. |
