Being reported in the evening press that Gayle is being offered to Newcastle.

Maybe something to offset this proposed bid for Townsend.

Tbh, id like to see him being used in deals for either Sissoko or Mitrovic.

Yes, let's move on our leading scorer for the last three seasons. It may not be that many goals, but in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king.

Understand your sentiments, but it's time to s*** or get off the pot with Gayle.

If we aren't going to play to his strengths, then there is little point in keeping him.

Given the chance he does know where the back of the net can be found unlike most of our more illustrious stars.

Regardless of how many goals he scores in the Carling Cup or at the end of the season.

Gayle doesn't contribute to the first team regularly enough and has too many games where he's missing.

If we have the chance to swap a squad player for a player who will have an impact on the first team immediately, we absolutely should be looking to make that deal.

Agreed - the miss in the cup final was the last straw with Gayle for me - constantly talked up as a great goalscorer, but if he can't take chances like that when it matters, we have no need for him.

He's a decent goalscorer, and pretty poor at the everything else - anything upwards of what we paid for him and I'd take it.

It'd be a good move for Gayle, and to be honest, I don't think we'll miss him. Ok he is our top scorer, with seven goals, but given four of those were in the league cup, that can be taken with a pinch of salt.

His tally in the premiership, has been poor, even when we were playing well and he made appearances. Ideally I'd like to see him loaned out to Newcastle with an option to buy at the end of next season, as part of a deal for Townsend (even if we loan him for free).

That's looking increasingly unlikely:
